Hello dear Sparkfriends!
Some of you already know that I go to England several times a year for work, as the organization I work for is based in England. In the last few months, I showed you London markets and London decorated for Christmas (my three blogs dated 11 and 12 December), and, more recently, back in June, more London markets and London all decorated for the Queen’s Jubilee ( www.sparkpeople.com/mypa
Today, I would like to take you to one of my very favorite places in England. It is in Ockley, near Dorking, in Surrey (South of London). It is a sculpture garden, and all the sculptures are contemporary art (one of my passions). So if you don’t like contemporary art, you might not enjoy it very much... :(
I arrived late morning from Paris on the Eurostar train and my friend Liz was waiting for me at the station. We immediately drove off to Surrey. We had been to the Hannah Peschar scupture garden before and already knew where we wanted to have lunch, in a lovely pub a few minutes away from the garden where we had the most gorgeous seafood last time.
The hanging baskets were welcoming...
... and so was the white wine we ordered...
There are few things for me that say ‘England’ as much as ‘fish and chips’! To be honest, it can be just horrible, but it can also become a master piece when properly prepared (and when the fish is fresh, which is the case at The Old School). We weren’t disappointed!
And then we were off to nearby Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden. It was a beautiful sunny day with a Fall crispness in the air. Perfect!
Hannah Peschar is the owner of this outdoor gallery. It isn’t meant as a beautiful garden (and the garden isn’t the reason people come to visit I believe), but rather as a setting for the works of art.
OK, I have to confess I am showing this sculpture first as it was one of my favorites! Anyway, I won’t show you any of the ones I didn’t like!... I loved both the sculpture and the maple tree above it...
There were a few by the same artist...
Can you tell how happy I am to be there? :)
I am not going to comment all the sculptures or plants!!!... So I’ll just give you a tour of all the sculptures and places I preferred... Please note that obviously they are for sale and so they change all the time. Out of the dozens on display, there were only a couple that were there from the last time I came.
(I really like these huge leaves!)
There are several pretty little cottages on the property, and they definitely contribute to the charm of the place! I think this one is my favorite:

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed visiting this sculpture garden with me... I am having such a beautiful time at my friend Liz’s, with lots of great chats and laughter!
Have a beautiful sparkling week!
