Never Judge a Book by it's
r all of us on SP.

Sunday, September 23, 2012

My Mom sent this to me today. She knows that there have been times in my life when others have judged me strictly by looking at me. Something that I am sure 95% or more of us have gone through in our lives. She wanted me to remember that we should never judge a book by it's cover and to remind me that those that do are not worth my time.

So for all of my Spark brothers and sisters this is for you. Remember you are more than just how you look on the outside.............and if others would take the time to get to know you they might find out something just like this.

was going to go look this duo up but I see Kal has done so already.

Growing up a fat child I am a firm believer of judge who not looks.

thanks for shairng. Hope they get to meet Susan Boyle!!

This was wonderful to see again and learn some more to their story. It does teach a lesson that with our true friends we can do much. Some people can make hurting remarks and never realize how much they hurt. With my mother I had either gained to much weight or lost too much.

There is BEAUTY in each of us...although some of us are Blessed to have "jewel of a friend" to draw us out. I am so blessed to watch this and see the metamorphosis; then THE butterfly soaring! emoticon WoW!!

..and thank you for stopping by my blog to cheer me on! ~ Laura

Somehow I lost the link to your blogs and so have missed them. Thanks for the reminder and in my experience those who look the best on the outside are not much fun to be with.

Oh, my gosh! This was absolutely amazing! The judges really got a wake up call didn't they? Too bad that this isn't shown on TV here, like the clip of Susan Boyle was.............or,, maybe it WILL be! Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

Thank you for the reminder......I often forget that I am more than what the outside body shows. There is so much more to us than what the scale shows. This is one of the reasons I love sparkspeople, we get to know who the "true" person is and not have a judgement of how we look.
Have a wonderful day!

Sniff...I knew it would make me cry. What a beautiful story, with a moral all of us could use a reminder about. It's the person on the inside that counts, not the outside. Luv ya, Nimsy!

Thank you Nims! I love these kind of stories when a person who is so harshly judged get the chance to "show them" who he is. Jonathan and Charlotte's friendship is so beautiful and I'm so happy for all the success they share. Perhaps one day Simon will finally learn to listen before he makes his rude judgements based on appearance.

Thank you for posting this link Nims.......I don't watch much TV but my youngest will find something like this and then show me. She didn't with this one but I agree, it's what is on the inside that counts and I am glad that Charlotte was one of the few teenagers that thinks like that. Most teens don't sadly.........

I agree, it's important to know the REAL person behind the physical...and it's important to dig even deeper beyond the facade as well. It's been great to get to know several of the Pinks during this challenge.

And as an aside to the true "moral" to your blog Nimsy, so much good came from Jonathan and Charlotte's story. Simon apologized to Charlotte for his characteristic rudeness on their initial song. Jonathan moved beyond dropping out of school and suicidal thoughts and hurting himself because of how he was treated and Charlotte was such an integral part - what a beautiful friendship they have that Charlotte was always there for him no matter what, standing up for him, never judging him, supporting him and that he recognized that and when he was faced with dumping her on the stage in front of Simon Legree, err Cowell emoticon who had the ability to make or break him, he stood strong in his friendship. NEVER wavered. They are friends to the end for the beauty of what is inside and shared. THAT is the definition of a truly loving friendship.

Their album Together will be released tomorrow 9/24 under Simon Cowell's record label. He paid them a huge amount of $ even after they lost to a specialty act in the final of Britain's Got Talent and there will be an hour long television special premiering in November showing their journey.

I do love a happy ending!

Thanks Nimsy!

i seen few clips of those 2, they made it pretty far i though not sure if they won or not. As life growing up i found many beautiful people to be really ugly inside. And the one you call odd looking ones were so loving and warm. I had been a cheerleader and i wish i still had that body but i have not changed, i used to be ridiculed by the others of the cheer leading squad because i spoke to those who had hearts. But i don't care it made me who i am today, and i am probably the worst judge when it comes to myself But with others i always like to get to know them here. But there are some ugly peoples in the inside still on spark people sadly enough.

This saying also goes along with "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything" from my mother. Sometimes my tongue is really chewed up at the end of the day, because I have not said anything and try to remind myself that that particular person might be having a bad day and there is nothing I can do or say that will change their mindset. emoticon

So true. Being fat for so many years has brought so many side looks and snickers. I hated going to a buffet to eat, because everybody was looking to see what you put on your plate. But, skinny people have hangups too, so I guess we need to learn to be comfortable in our own skin and only then can we be kinder to others.

Those who won't aren't interested in getting to know us, because they have no concept of "spirit." Have a great week! emoticon
