Feeling like I can take on the world.

Friday, September 21, 2012

Today is one of those days that I feel that I could take on the world. I feel extremely motivated and confident. But these days don't come along for me all that often. So I'm hoping I can find something that works to keep me feeling this way. I'm afraid I'm going to wake up tomorrow and be down on myself again and have doubts about me being able to reach my goals. I need something in my life that will keep me motivated! I pray this website is what I've been needing and missing in my life.

Both the previous posters offer great insights: (1) SP is wonderful, full of motivational and inspirational stories and blogs and chock full of great informational articles. Like officialoldy, I too have accomplished much just by reading this site daily.
(2) jumpinjulie's offer to be here for you provides yet another glimpse of how terrific SP can be There is ALWAYS someone here to help.

But I want to suggest one more thing, and it comes out of what you wrote. You said, "But these days don't come along for me all that often. So I'm hoping I can find something that works to keep me feeling this way." and "I need something in my life that will keep me motivated!"

Motivation waxes and wanes much like the moon. It's here for a while and then, somehow, gone again.

What sticks is commitment, which comes from inside you. If you're married, for example, you don't have to have someone else motivate you to work toward making your marriage the best it can be. You made a commitment, and you strive to honor it every day, right?

In the same way, while others can provide you inspiration, the commitment to health comes from inside you. You don't rely on someone else to motivate you to work toward making your body the healthiest it can me. You make the commitment and you strive to honor it every day, right?

Make one commitment toward a new you, just one if that's all you can manage right now, and strive to keep commitment daily.

One day, one moment, one bite and one step at at time, those commitments will add up to success.

I wish you the very best on your journey. emoticon

Thank you both so much! And I hope to enjoy working out and excercising too. I know it will make me healthier and make me feel better about myself. But I am not one that has ever been big on doing it. LOL. But I already feel like it's going to be more enjoyable than my past attempts. I never had a lot of support like this in the past though. So this is new to me.

I really hope that this web site is what you need - it really has been for me. Since I've been on Spark, I am usually up beat and motivated. This is a great site if you tend to get down on yourself - it's so affirming. Goal setting is a big part of what we do on Spark - short and long term goals. I've been able to achieve some most of my short term goals in 3 months and one long term one. I thought it would take a long time to really enjoy exercising, but, surprisingly, I'm actually enjoying it. I plan to loose 50 pounds in my first year and I have every confidence that, on SparkPeople, i will. Good luck with your journey!
