Snacks for a picky eater??

Friday, September 21, 2012

I get the munchies through out the day but most healthy foods I ddon't care for. I did clan some grapes and ad them sitting arond for a few days, taking one or two at a time, but didn't fill the bill. Being picky stinks.

I can't do peanuts as I have a food intolerance to peanut products, which means I can eat just a little bit otherwise I have problems. You know, you have to look out for those 'made on machinery that process peanuts' or 'may contian tree nuts'.

I wish i liked more freggies. For a picky eater, we can't just 'try it you might like it'. some foods we haave a mind set against and just have to be the right time to try it and if it looks ugly....forget it....shrimp....ugh!

I do like bananas, apples, but seems ike they go bad before i get around to eatng them. When we have a freggie challenge, I do better eating them, though.

So, of coure if there is junk food around, it is more tempting before thinking freggies.

So frustrating.

I'm quite picky too but I've gotten much better over the years by trying new things. Some stuff I didn't like at first but then had it a different way and I liked it. Persevere with foods and keep trying new things. You'll be surprised how your tastes change.

I found a great new recipe for breakfast or snacks - Banana Baked Oatmeal. I'll PM it to you. Really tasty snack, kind of like a soft granola bar.

I've never had Greek Yogart, but I do like raspberry flavoring. Might try that. Thanks.

How about fresh raspberries or blackberries? I know you pay a premium, but if you eat them it's worth the $

Do you like Greek yogurt? I'm obsessed with getting plain Greek yogurt, adding sugar free jello powder(raspberry is the bomb), and sticking it in the freezers for about 30 minutes.

How about apple slices with a little peanut butter (2 tbsp is more than enough for 1 apple)? It is an excellent combination of healthy fats, fiber, protein and carbs. It is very easy to make, especially if you have an apple corer/slicer. And it is filling.

I know how you feel! I don't like apples, but I like apple pie, applesauce, and apple juice!

I don't like cream cheese..unless it's in a cheesecake LOL. Another thing about some picky eaters, foods have to be a certain way. Apples have to be nice a crisp, but apple pie has to be tender, no crunch at all. Also, no lumps in mashed potatoes.

have you tried dried fruits and veggies? i like those as snacks at time, or just a box of raisins is good too. I have been craving for crispy bbq flavored corn ... lol maybe that is something for you. I eat often nuts for snacks but can't recommend that but the others try and see if you like that sort :) ... Another thing i like having as a snack is slice of ham on a rusk. no margarine . Its delicious.

Frozen grapes are delicious. Cinnamon on apples is also a good treat. I completely understand where you are coming from, though. I get stuck in an eating rut all the time. But we can do this!

I freeze grapes. They taste good, last longer and at least seem to be more filling.
