Turn and face the changes

Friday, September 21, 2012

So my weight is still an issue. I apparently gained 5 pounds in 2 days...again. *sigh* One or two pounds I could deal with as fluctuation...but 5??? Really????

Things are moving quickly at work now. My new job is effective as of this coming Sunday. My hours don't change for now, which is good. My office does change though, which is not so good. First off, I am moving into a cube farm from my nice quiet 2 person office. This cube farm will be home to 12 people. As someone who is hypervigilant, this does not bode well for me. It means that I will either have to get headphones to plug into my computer, or I will have some serious slowing down in what I do. Too much noise and I can't concentrate. Thank you Mr. PTSD.

My new office also is in what we call The Core. This is the very center of the building, and is also where the entrances to the clean rooms are. Hence no food or drinks allowed. Me...sans coffee...sans water...sans diabetic snacks. Ugh!

I'll make it work, because I need this job. Everything else these last six years has been a luxury. Time to suck it up and deal.

You're very resourceful so I'm sure you will make this work. A lot of it is what you get used to and a new routine you establish. It will all work out, trust me. As far as the 5 lb gain, I do this too and then it goes back down and then up again. Right now I'm in a good spot but I went for months of yo yoing before this. A lot has to do with nerves too. I'm sure after your job is settled you be back to normal. Good luck, I'll be thinking of you Sun night.

I think you shouldn't worry about the numbers but focus on the feelings and other non-scale victories. You can do this!!

You need to talk to somebody about being diabetic and not being allowed water at your desk at the very least...... I understand no food, as you can go to the break room or cafeteria area for a quick snack, but water is so very important. I am sorry you are having to make them move. It makes you wonder why you can't stay there and do the same job.
But seriously please talk to somebody about the water.... not having it can be a real danger to your health.

I am also sorry about your gain. I really do understand... my weight seems to be in yo yo status over the last month or more. Just emoticon we will get through it.... emoticon

Diabetic snacks aren't exactly a luxury. I hope they have a space in the office where you can go on breaks and lunch and have water and snacks as needed.

Those weight fluctuations are killer, aren't they?

Ugh on the new work environment. Yep, get the headphones. It sounds like the best option.
Enjoy your weekend!
