Life's Fulfillment

Friday, September 21, 2012

Acts 17:24-28 “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands, “Nor is He worshiped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things, “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, “so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; “for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.'”

Father, I thank You for living within me. Thank You for leading the way each day for me. I pray that You will forgive me for the times I've chosen to go my own way and have ignored Your directions. I know that You created me for Yourself, that You might fill me with Your thoughts and desires so I might fulfill the plan that You have for my life. Please help me to choose Your ways over my own. Thank You for filling me with Your very presence. It's in You that I live and move and have my being. I was made for You to inhabit and I thank You for filling my spirit with Your Spirit. May You be glorified in me today, Lord Jesus!

“My child, My children seek all kinds of things to bring satisfaction and contentment into their lives. And all that is needed for them to be happy is for them to look to My Spirit within them. I live in each one of My believers. I inhabit their innermost being. It is in Me that they find life and that more abundantly. It is not in the things that they possess or the places that they go. They are looking for Me in all the wrong places. You must connect with Me to have the abundant life that I provide. Look unto Me and live fulfilled and satisfied. Look unto the world and continue to long for Me for the world does not offer anything that even remotely resembles Me. You can only have contentment through knowing Me for I am the life-giver. Look unto Me and live. Look unto the world and continue to be hungry!”

Thank you Avanell for a great lesson. We don't have to look anywhere but to the Lord for our happiness, help, and comfort. He will direct our footsteps in the right direction for a full life. I like your quote that Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil. What a wonderful point you made. God bless you for sharing God's word with us.

Father, you're quite right - I keep looking in the wrong places for comfort, strength and help. I try to look for you and you know I ask you to help me but I'm obviously not very good at listening or seeing yet because often you don't seem to answer. I know you're there all the time and that you love me. Please help me to keep looking to you for all I need and to find you. And please forgive me for when I look for you in the fridge or in a chocolate bar or, worse, in the 'comfort' of self-harm.
Yours always
Lindsay
