My 30 Day Challenge -- Day 6: Almost one week down!

My official ME-day (weigh-in day) is tomorrow as I've been doing SP for 7 days and this is the end of my 6th day of my own 30-day challenge. My personal challenge included daily blogging to stay accountable to myself and hiking at least every other day to get my into hiking shape. So far, so good!

Actually, today it occurred to me how different this "first" week has been compared with my other "first" weeks of new weight loss plans/ exercise plans/ change everything plans. I have found the tracking to be especially helpful (not just the calories part, but the fat/carbs and fiber categories). It has really helped me to pay more attention to not only the total caloric level, but also the nutritious value of what I'm eating. So this week has differed also, because I have been less focused on the "this is day __ of my healthy lifestyle", and more focused on how good it feels to be living a healthy lifestyle that it surprised me that my ME-day is tomorrow already!

That to me is very encouraging, because in the past I've usually equated the change as 'going ON a diet', implying that eventually I would be "OFF" the diet / plan. This has been more about making changes that I can sustain. Admittedly, I have spent quite a lot of time this week consciously planning for meals and snacks -- something which I hope will become more rote habit as I continue on this journey, but all good habits require practice. So I'm practicing away!

On another note, I got 5 hikes in this week (4 since starting my challenge) -- and today I noticed that I was hiking a little faster and a little less out of breath -- hurray! I love being in good CARDIO shape -- so I'm looking forward to my progress over this next week and the remaining three weeks of my challenge.

I've read on a few people's signatures on the community boards the following quote:

"Nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels."

Wow isn't that the truth -- no matter how you define "skinny", maybe it should be...

"Nothing tastes as good as being in-shape feels."
