Azure Destinations BLC 20 Week 2 Azure Destinations Focus Passport To Happiness Challenge
This BLC we are on a tropical cruise sailing from island to island in an ongoing challenge where we sail to a different port each focus week. We are now entering port at the beautiful island of Hawaii.
This week’s focus theme is BACK TO BASICS (Log your meals, drink your water, exercise)
Focus weeks are about developing the healthy habits that lead to our own happiness. We find happiness as we work on goals in these four areas:
Nutrition: I am on day 12 of a 30 day program called Whole30 which is a strict version of Paleo involving resetting my metabolism so to speak by cutting out all sugars both natural and artificial, alcohol, dairy, grains, many oils....i.e. STRICT. So far so good. I did go through what I have heard called “carb flu” on days 4/5 and I really jons’ed for a glass of wine or three on day 11 (feeding those emotions) but did NOT succumb). As a foodie, I am always reading about, researching, planning and preparing new dishes for our meals and this makes it a fun, new adventure in that regard. I shall keep on, keepin’ on or KOKO (Love you Lynn!)
As far as back to basics, this is reiterating something that I know to be a BIG part of my downfall other than portions which aren’t emphasized in Whole30.
LOGGING/JOURNALLING my meals!!!!
Drink more water! I do fine on this but as we go into cooler and then cold months, I need to really make it a focus!
Exercise: I am still not spot on or even really “on” a good, solid workout plan. When we moved all of my workout DVDs from beachbody fitness , zumba etc. were MIA. They are now FOUND and I am working on having them FedEXed to me ASAP. Meanwhile that is an EXCUSE. I have new ballet barre workouts. I have kettle bells. I have my spin bike. I have access to spark workouts. MOVE IT!
Sleep and stress relief: One of my 12 week goals was to use my technology. One of those items is my BodyMedia. I wore it ONE day. Charge it and put it on Kal! How hard is that???? I think I am sleeping quite well and with the windows open on these cooler nights I KNOW it. No more muggy!
Stress relief??? I need to think about this one and really FOCUS on how to alleviate some as stressors in my life are on the uprise.
My annual sister getaway to Captiva Island Florida is in just over a month! Family photos for the first time in maybe 12 years to give my Mom as a Christmas gift.
SparkFriends: I am a Dual Citizen on the BLC Challenge (some of this seems redundant to BLC’ers but since I’m posting it sparkwide I’m explaining) meaning I am traveling between two teams - Azure Destinations my home team and the hard charging inaugural team Midnight Mustangs. I will continue to share forward and offer my support and I also commit to do a better job of making time to connect/re-connect with old spark friends on a regular basis!
These may be a one week focus theme but they need to become ingrained and as we all know habits take much longer than a day or a week to develop. Why is it that we can fall OUT of a habit so quickly but making one takes a month or so?!* Hmmmmm....
