Spark Coach - Daily Visualization

Let's start with a quick visualization exercise. Imagine yourself as an elderly person reflecting on what you've done with your life. Think of the path you're on now. Are you making your future self proud? What can you do today to help live a life you can be proud of?

I thought about this a few weeks ago, when I spent the afternoon with an 80 year old lady. We had lunch, did a little shopping and walked along the ocean. She walked beside me at my pace and we chatted along the way. She seems ageless, living in the moment, walking with ease and enjoying life. She is a great role model for me and I want to be a role model like that for my daughters.

At this point I want an active lifestyle with the energy and enthusiasm to join others in doing fun things - horseback ride, river tube, canoe, sing karaoke, hike mountains, dog walk, golf, learn carpentry, play cards, dinner parties, travel and make new friends.

In the future I will regret that I have not done more to prepare myself for old age. I have osteoarthritis and find that my hips joints lock and it can be painful and difficult to move after I have been sitting. I need to lose more weight so itís easier to get up and down steps, get out of a chair and out of the car. By losing weight and being more physically fit, I can maintain a good quality of life and keep active.

For now and in the future I need to really push myself to walk, go to the gym, go to water aerobics and use the exercise equipment I have at home. I still have to set up my treadmill desk and get using it while I Spark and read internet news.

I know I can do it. I have to put my good intentions into good actions!

I want to look as young as I feel.

I want to have lots of energy and enthusiasm to join others in having fun.

What do you want to change?

I want to fit into smaller clothes and look better.

I want to look healthy and fit.

How do you want to feel?

Energetic and ready to join in the fun.

What things will you be able to do in the future with a slimmer healthier body?

It will be easier to travel and try new things.

And list all the OTHER things that you want to change!

I want to be an active companion for my husband.

Think of yourself at the end of the Challenge having accomplished your goals!

    Good mentors show us that who we can be. A goal to strive towards, to think when we are picking up our second devil egg, would I do this if she were watching me. They get to be the little devil on our shoulder reminding us that we have to make good decisions to get to our goals.

    I love your role model! She sounds like an amazing lady. One of my reasons for wanting to get healthier and fit at 35 is so that when I'm 80, I can be like your role model. My motivator's are my parents and my in-laws. My parent's because they are in their low - mid 60s and still get around pretty well, especially my dad. In fact he just finished painting my parent's entire 2-story, very large farmhouse. I think that's pretty good for a 65 year old. As for my in-laws, they motivate me because they are a few years younger than my parents and are very, very out of shape and overweight and can hardly do a thing. I've known them for 12 years now, so my MIL was in her upper 40s when I first met her and even in her 40s, she could barely walk. I do NOT want to be like that at all, so in a way they motivate me to try and avoid being like them.

    Here in the park there are several 80-90 year old women and are still going strong. I too want to have the strength and energy that they do when I am their age. Together we can do this!

    My MIL's best friend Ruth is my role model and she is 87. Has a great body and lives alone. Looks fantastic.
