I'm back in the game...

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

As many of you are already aware, I am not active on SP anymore. I love their tracker and also used MyFitnessPal prior to using SP's tracker, but found both very complicated and confusing. I'm not sure why, but it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks and when I used the WW points system I found it much easier and simplistic to follow. It may not be as rigid regarding eating healthy, but when it comes to losing weight I do much better on the Points system.

When I left SP a few months back, and took over taking care of two grandsons in addition to my 91 yr. old bedfast MIL, I got totally away from tracking. Although I maintained my weight when tracking on SP, I never really lost much. Then, when I got totally away from tracking I gained 10 lbs! I had to do something! I knew it was time to get back in the game, but finding time to keep track of what was going in my mouth and find time to exercise was challenging indeed!

I"ve found myself empathizing more recently with young mothers who used to attend my WW meetings and would talk about cooking and taking care of small children and what a hinderance it could be to there healthy lifestyle. I have more empathy now, then I did back then.

Anyway, long story short - Two weeks ago I was able to figure out a exercise regimen that will assist me in getting back in the game. I also discovered that I still had FREE e-tools and was able to use WW online tracker. So, I planned, prepared and began to hold myself accountable by stepping on the dreaded scale! After two weeks (1st week extremely challenging and only 1 lb. lost), I've lost 3.4 lbs in two weeks. I earned 15 Activity Points this past week (Today is day one of my 3rd week) and didn't use but only half of my Weekly Points.

I treasure the friends I've made on here and my primary goal in posting this blog is to let you know that I will be blogging somewhere else from now on. I have so many things that I enjoy blogging about and have wanted to start my own blog for a very long time. It's not done, I'm still in the setting up stage, but you can read what's going on in my life, if you choose by checking me out at:

I look forward to hearing from some of my old friends.

We've missed you, and I'm so glad you posted this update. You are in service so much that I can see how you have little time for being at the computer. I'm glad to hear you're losing again and that you've got a plan working for you.

I will save your link so I can read your blogs! Blessings on you!!

Glad you're getting back on track, creating a system that works for YOU. Once upon a time I took a mini course called Learning to Learn. All about how people absorb knowledge and/or are able to put it to use. No two people are the same. And when it comes to tracking, the methods that work for some are exactly what will be the falling-down point for others.

When you don't have time to do one method, it doesn't work and that is that. It doesn't matter where or how you track/monitor foods; what does matter is that you DO it, you are accountable to yourself in the way that is comfortable and doesn't take over your life.

I've switched to a very basic eating style after years of tracking. IIt's simple, basic; works for me. I've joined the Y and am doing exercises; simple, basic and oh yuh: it's what works for me. lol I wish you well, though you'll continue to be missed!

I can certainly understand how Spark's trackers would be too time consuming and confusing for someone with a life as chaotic as yours. Personally I just copy my meals from one day to the next for the points. I keep my real journal on paper, just as I have been doing since I lost weight on WW all these years ago. WW has the weight loss thing down pat, and for those of us who follow their plan (whichever WW plan we follow) then it's easiest to use their tools.

I signed up to follow your blog and look forward to your success as you live a difficult but rewarding life!

Congratulations on y succeses so far! You have many more ahead of you! I have been very successful with Weight Watchers as well. It's a simple yet effective program that teaches you how to eat healthy and manage your portion sizes without denying you your favorites.

Good luck!
