FINALLY worked out the problems with the insurance company about my PT!

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

After many phone calls & a letter to my insurance company I am finally starting my Physical Therapy tomorrow for my hip & back arthritis. The problem was getting them to agree to let me see someone "not in my network".

At first the insurance company gave me the "go-ahead", I went & the nurse did the evaluation & when I got home that day my doctor's office called & said my insurance had denied me. I called the Ins. Co. & was told if I wanted to I could write a letter stating why I needed to go somewhere closer to my home & asking for an overturn of the denial. She gave me the address in Houston & the name of the person that the letter should go to. I did this & a few days later got another phone call (from them in Houston) & they overturned their denial & said I could go locally (instead of making a 120 mile trip where they originally wanted me to go). Woohoo! Sure hope this works.

If you have a problem with your insurance company it pays to be "civil" & try to get them to work with you.
