The Hunger Games

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

As I wrote that title, I was thinking ... Hmmm ... how appropriate sometimes. But I digress. I looked at the Insider today and there were images with motivational quotes, many, many of them. I found an image on a member's blog one day that I made the background of my computer because I really liked it.

It said, "I workout because I know I would have been the first to die in The Hunger Games." How true is that? Having just seen the movie, I know for a fact I would not have survived long. This saying motivates me to visualize what I would have done if I were in The Hunger Games and how I would have done it as I am now and how differently I would do it if I were at goal weight. Of course, I have to go train in archery as well, but that is another story.

Mypoint I guess is that motivational/inspirational sayings can really create an image in our heads that lead us to our goal. We just have to find the right one. This is the one I found that works for me. I want to think I could survive for longer than 10 seconds and as I make changes in my life, my survival rate increases. I will think of that next time that cake beckons. Cake = survival rate decrease. Workout = survival rate increases.

Glad you found a quote that speaks to you. I too find that some of the motivational quotes help me in keeping things in perspective and on track. I am ignoring the carrot cake someone brought in to work today. I had a treat this weekend, and so I should not have another one. Plus, it's not homemade, so what's the point really. (See I can rationalize just about anything!) Guess I can now increase my survival rate!!
