I love avocado. Always have... likely always will... My favorite way to eat them is with a spoon and a little sea salt... LOL
During the summer, I lucked out and got a gonga deal on organic 'cados. One of the little darlings got buried under something else in the fridge and wasn't discovered until it was seriously in bad shape. Not stinky, but yeah, not edible.
So I made soap with it. Yeah... you read that right.
Hadn't even considered making an Avocado Soap until that point, so I carefully saved the flesh from the avocado, wrapped it up and put it in the freezer. Sometimes it takes me several days to fully calculate my soap recipes as I really do fully consider the total complement of fatty acids from each fat or oil added, how much of a superfat percentage to incorporate into the formula, etc.
By taking the time to be careful in formulating, I find that my soaps don't often need 'trial runs'. That's not saying there haven't been a few trial runs that my friends and family have had the fun of participating in! LOL
At any rate, the formula for this one is truly delish. My husband even likes it and he was the guy turning his nose up at my homemade soap in the beginning... LOL
All of these are Avocado Soaps - I just played around with earth-based colors in the darker bar while the lighter bars have no colors added. One of these will be the prize in the Great Soap Giveaway drawing to be held on October 1, 2012.
