Like so many things in life having a good attitude will get you places you never dreamed possible.
I've had a 'got to do this' attitude a lot lately and finally decided last week that that had to change. I'd walk past the elliptical and cringe, knowing it would get the best of me. Do the minimum required physical activity just because I know I walk (at a slow pace) 2 hours a day when I'm doing yard duty at my youngest child's school. I'm not breaking a sweat.
This weekend I worked on psyching myself up for what I WANT my life to be like. This is going to be a life long change, so I need to embrace it and make it me.
I got up this morning with my husband (at 4:30 am) to see him off to work. Looked at the elliptical and made a pact that I will get at least 5 minutes in on it. Since I haven't managed more than 1 minute at a time I will do it in inclements. Anything I can do is better than nothing at all. So far I've managed 3 minutes total on it, but I also jogged for 10 minutes (WAHOO!) straight with out even slowing to a fast walk. I've never managed 1 min 30 secs before. I'd tried doing the walk/jog thing this summer but gave up. Now I'm looking at it and thinking, "If I can do 10 minutes straight now, imagine where I'll be in a month... in 6 months...a year from now!" I'm so excited!!!
