A whirlwind weekend!

Monday, September 17, 2012

Have survived the Monday after the whirlwind weekend. Flew from Perth WA to Melbourne then onto Devonport Tasmania. That took from 1055 Friday night till arrival in Tas. at 0930 Sat am. Met my brother at Melbourne airport and we happened to be on the same plane.
emoticon He wanted my daughter and I to go up to the Qantas lounge but we were all comfortable down at the departure gate in the waiting area and just did not have the energy to walk there and then all the way back again! This is coming from someone who LOVES walking! Just not after flying all night after a busy day at work.

We met up with my dad and step mum at the airport and then we went to their house for a cuppa.

Then headed off to the motel room to get some sleep! emoticon

After waking at 3pm we got ready for my nephew's 18th fancy dress party. emoticon

I went as Red Riding Hood and my daughter went as Alice in Wonderland. We all met at the post office and took a bus to the venue.

It was a great night and have taken lots of photos which I will put up over the weekend when I have more time! emoticon I danced ALL night! Had blisters and was very proud as the only alcohol I had was a glass of white wine at my sister's house before we left.

I was very conscious of what I was eating and stayed away from the pastry food. My sister made a whole pile of sandwiches so I ate a couple of them to fill me up and drank water all night. The only diversion was the birthday cake! It was layered and had a yummy custard in the centre with Chocolate Mud cake at the base. I had a taste or two but had to stop as it was VERY rich and at one stage I felt a bit unwell. I am no longer able to eat rich food.

Sunday was great we all headed off to my dad and step mum's for a family gathering. Once again took lots of photos as it is not very often we all get together! We all live in different parts of Australia! emoticon So don't get to meet all that often.
I asked my dad if he had any veggies in the garden and he had, broccoli and cauliflower so he cooked me up good amount and I have never tasted anything so yummy for ages. I was hanging out for some veggies by then. Very hard to eat clean when travelling around airports. I basically had fruit and yogurt!

We then headed off to see my mother at the Nursing home and she was AWAKE!

She was able to stay lucid the whole time we were there. She kept looking straight into our eyes and you could almost hear her synapses working hard to make connections to all these faces. At one stage she looked at my brother and said he looked like George! This is our fathers name! Mum and dad divorced after 25 years of marriage. She also mentioned a few other names as the time went on, so we were pleased that she "sort of" knew who we were.

We have decided to arrange to have a friend of my sister to come in daily and give mum a massage as she really enjoyed it when I was massaging her shoulders and feet.

Meanwhile in Perth, my MIL was sent to hospital as she almost choked an a piece of almond that was in her cereal! She was discharged back to her hostel after a short stay and hubby went to see her later in the day. emoticon

So after all that we headed back home and flew out of Devonport at 5.15pm and arrived in Perth via Melbourne at 1230 Tas. time.

And then somehow got up and went to work this am! emoticon

Popped onto the scales this am and pleased to say no gain, no loss! emoticon

So am planning on getting to the gym at least twice this week and walk Sooty daily.

Well that is it for now, so glad my daughter and I went over. Lots of great memories!

Oh, and the background picture on my Sparkpage is of my mother when she was in her 40's .

That sure was a lot of flying. Too bad it doesn't count as cardio as all the dancing did. That must have burned a lot of calories! Sounds like a happy, but tiring, time. -- Lou
