This morning I was looking in my closet for something to wear to church and came across a very cute denim skirt that I had bought at Goodwill last year, but had never worn because it was too tight across the stomach and hips. I had a vague idea that it might fit me "sometime," but I don't know if I ever really believed I would fit into it. I saw it today and thought, "oh, what the heck. I'll try it on, but it's probably too small."
Well, it wasn't too small. It fit! I looked in the mirror and realized that the shirt I was wearing was too big, so I found another one that I hadn't worn in a long time because I didn't like the way it hugged my stomach and back. That fit too! What an exciting day!
I am finally starting to get my butt in gear, now that work is calming down a little bit. I lost another pound this week, which I was not expecting, since it is my TOM and I usually seem to gain weight then, not lose. I have just been trying to increase my steps and I've been taking the dog on lots of walks.
Yesterday my husband and I went to a state park so he could fish. I worked on knitting for a little while, then I hiked the trail around the lake while he kept fishing. It took me a half an hour to walk and I think, from the number of steps, that it was around a mile and a half. I got lots of steps yesterday: 13399! That's really high for me. As I was walking, I thought about all the times I had been there and had not taken advantage of the great exercise opportunity. I'm so glad my thinking has changed and working out is becoming more and more natural to me. I can't believe how sedentary I used to be.
