Androids?

Sunday, September 16, 2012

We finally moved into megabyte land with new cell phones.

My old Razor conked out and is resting in peace in the bin with all the other old cell phones. I was planning on getting i-phones, but my son, who is the voice of reason, told me that I should at least check out other Androids before paying a ridiculous amount of money for something when I can get pretty much the same ingredients under a different name.

I spoke to a rep with the company ( I had planned on leaving them as soon as my contract was up) and they gave me a great deal on three phones with unlimited talk ( upgrade from sharing 1500 minutes), and text and 200 megabytes(not much from what Iím told). We shut off our data usage and only use wi-fi at home or only when necessary when were out.

I have to admit I love the phone but I have to get used to it and learn how to use it because so far Iíve butt dialed someone, (good thing I wasnít talking about the person oops! LOL!) transferred all my contacts to my daughters phone (donít know how that happened) and still havenít transferred them to my own phone. So I guess that means Iíll have to sit for hours manually entering numbers?

My son (13) is the go to guy for how to operate this complicated thing-a-ma-jig. Heís figured out everything on the phone including police lights and sirens. My daughter whoís 23 complains that the phone is too much for her. She has no apps and no interest in getting any. As for me, the only thing I do is play solitaire when Iím waiting in lines or in the car or whatever. I have no patience and not much interest in all this technology.

Ah yes... too much technology! The bane of our modern-day existence!
Take your time and it'll all come together.
Good luck. Androids are kinda cool once you get them figured out!! Congrats on the new upgrade!

I understand how you feel. I have a very simple cell phone, and so far this is all I need! Good luck with importing your contacts! Maybe your son could do it for you?

Hubby and I bought an Android Samsung as soon as we got back to Perthy from living O/S for 2 years.

Love it. Check my e-mails when away and FB as well Use the Sparkpeople apps and keep my logging in up to date and track my food as much as possible when I am away.

    Still learning!

Cell phones can be a challange. I work in IT so I love having email and Internet on my phone. I don't use apps though because I have an Ipad for those.

Got an Android and have fun with it but wish that the storage on the phone was bigger or be able to move some of the apps to it. Will have to e-mail them to see if they would have that option on their app. So far have not butt dialed any one but had gotten them from my son and my husband gotten them from his fishing buddy. I made a little pouch that I carry it around my neck because I don't have any pockets on my butt or sometimes on the front either so had to make something to carry my phone. Hate those clips on the waist because they always seems to fall off when I bend over or go to the rest room.

Welcome to App land! lol We are a mostly Android family. My Dh just has a simple phone as he isn't interested in anything fancy. The rest of us are Android users. My son is the one that knows all about this stuff but I have gotten the hang of it. He is impressed when I have new apps added to my phone. I love the SP apps. Check them out. There are 3 of them. You will get used to it and love it.

I actually upgraded from my Droid to an IPhone 4S last week and love it. My main reason for switching to Apple was for the whole security thing. Macs are so less prone to viruses, and since I'm a Mac user at home, it just felt right. I use my wireless whenever I'm at home or work too, just because I can....LOL
    Enjoy your phones!!!
