Oups... I am running late to log in my monthly Go the Distance Report... Just not enough time for blogging. I am however on target with my training plan and getting a bit nervous about my half marathon next week end. I can't believe it is next week!!! ...
My total for 2012 is now at: 1526 km / 948 miles
From last report (end of July) to this day I crossed 262 km / 163 miles!
I tried to follow my running program as much as I could. Not so easy with my schedule- I am now posted to Base Borden and I am the Commandant of the Training Cie. I love this job but at the moment it is very demanding... plus the start of the school year (I know parents will understand me there...) however Maggie is no longer a baby -14!!! - We still feel the beat of a weekly schedule to follow!
I tried to enjoy the fresh air as much as I can by going for daily walks

and my cross training also involve some bike rides.

To stay motivated and keep track of my progress, I signed up for virtual races! This is a great tool. I love it!

So yesterday I completed a 10km Virtual race by running the Terry Fox Run at the Base - a fund raiser event to fight again cancer. BTW - I am a cancer survivor and this event means a lot to me!!!
I did a great time - 45 min and 45 sec (4:34 pace!!!)...
I don't think I will maintain that pace for 13.1 miles - but this is a great way to build confidence... I did my last long run Monday (19km - 1h 29min... so, my goal is to do the Army HM in 1:40... Wish me luck!

My running goals for the Fall:
2X

:!!!
Army Run 23 September... & Borden Run HM 21 October
My other goals (up to November! - gotta keep my head out of the water!!! so can't think too far out...)
- Mindful eating... Good healthy food and tracking but also enjoying some little treats, especially when you make smart substitutions! (all accounted - no more cheat days that I taking me off track and are working against me + making me feel bloated for a couple a days/week...).
I love this new recipe that I put together! A bag of broccoli slaw and some left over (I used pork but next time I will make it with tofu or shrimps!), a peanut butter and soya sauce for seasoning et voila! 265 cal for 3 large bowls...

I also like pizza flatbread (lebanese pita) style loaded with veggies (eggplant, tomato and mushroom)!
The best part this week was the dessert! Maggie prepared for me some Red Velvet cupcakes for my 40BD!!! (yeah cupcake mix... process food but light version... no oil and egg just a can of club soda!. They were delicious!)
I am in a new category now... 40 and above!
Lastly, I will try to maintain my stress level under control by doing some yoga and just looking after the essential (so not worrying so much about trying to do it all... meaning I will focus on the essential). I might not have time for blogs, Sparkfriends and texting ...
