So today marks day 4 of tracking again, and even though I had been making better choices for a bit, I am starting to feel that good feel and more energy coming back, (even though I am sick right now). I wish I could remember this great feeling that I get when I eat right and then maybe that would make me less tempted to so much junk. Yesterday I left work early because I felt like I was going to pass out, I hate having a head cold, it makes it so had to function. I went home took a nap and started feeling slightly better, at least enough that I could function without falling over. I hate how I get so disoriented when I feel this way which makes working and driving difficult. Today I am functioning much better, but have so much pain an pressure in my nasal cavities. I have gone completely off track though, I wanted to talk about how proud of myself I was that I didn't come home and just eat a bunch of junk. I didn't break down and buy a pepsi (something I always crave/want when I am sick), I actually ended the day under in calories, because I didn't really have any afternoon snacks, and I was so full after dinner, I just couldn't eat another thing! I was only under by about 100, but I don't ever eat just to get into range if I am not hungry. All this drainage into my throat is probably the reason for the lack of appetite. I made one of my favorite Rachael Ray recipes last night, is it is very similar to a gyro, you make a meatloaf out of ground meat (she uses lamb, but I use beef, and add spinach and feta into the meat loaf and nice combo of spices that give that gyro flavor, in way less time that it takes to roast the lamb. Slice up the meat and serve it on a pita with cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and homemade tazitki (YUM-O!), I also made some Alexia waffle fries to go along with it. Most of kidos like it, except for my youngest niece who wouldn't even try it. It is so challenging trying to make things that will fit in my plan and that my niece and nephews will eat, so much of my SIL's cooking starts with opening a box, like hamburger helper, so it can be challenging to get them to eat and try new foods. There a few things that she can make very well, like fired chicken, but that isn't the greatest thing to eat, although she doesn't use a ton of oil when she fries it, and she makes super yummy pork chops. Tonight I am going to make the Tuna Noodle Casserole from the sparkpeople cookbook which is something that my kids LOVE and I think her two oldest will eat, even though she thinks they will not eat it...
I am at the point beyond caring, I am going to cook what I want to cook, they can eat it or not, and if they don't want to eat it then she can make them something else.
This weekend we are going to have steaks one night, because they were buy one get one free at Giant Eagle yesterday. I will probably pair it with some baked potatoes, brussel sprouts and a salad, if I make it to the farmers market tomorrow morning.
All in all, I think I have had a pretty successful week, I am going to focus on adding more activity back into my routine next week. I have a plan to walk the dog every evening, weather permitting, our normal route is just over a mile, but I think I might see if we can work up to 2 mile by the end of the week, not sure where I will add onto the route. I think I am going to take the doggie and my girls tonight after dinner.
I have also been doing my best to do the Quick Fire challenge everyday and will try to keep that up next week as well and then hopefully start adding some morning workouts in the following week.
I am planning a massive house cleaning this weekend so that will be a huge calorie burn!!
