Embracing Our Spark & Setting the Example!

Thursday, September 13, 2012

Today, I was up early this morning! There was no way I would miss the starting events of day. I had a Public Relations Advisory Committee meeting at 7:30am. More importantly, from there, I drove up to Tarpon Springs Elementary School to see my Baby Girl, Gianna, do her Walkathon! She called me last night to remind me.

I believe she came away from this past Sunday's run event with a lot of good. She was waiting for me at my Finish Line, I'm going to be there at her's! She couldn't wait to do this and she wanted me there. Unfortunately, GrandmaDarren (DSSECRETS, her home girl!) had to work as she was out sick Monday & Tuesday. So, I happily represented.

When I got there, she was already in stride. It looked like she was using Jeff Galloway's interval strategy plan as she would walk and run throughout the course.

Her stride & hand position resembles mine...of course!

She finished her laps, saw me, and gave me the grin! When I asked her to smile so I could send GrandmaDarren her photo, she went into photo op mode...also like me!

Gianna (left) with Daniella, her buddy!
(OK, she gets cute from GrandmaD!)

Here's my point...besides the "obvi!" Don't have any motivation! If you have family or children, there's your Spark. If you set the example, eat healthy, have fun exercising, and pass it on (better yet, include them) to your family, guess what will happen! I don't give passes to Spouses! They should be supportive!

If you live in my vicinity, consider me a resource! If not, message me, and we'll talk it out! I'll help in any way! I've already met several SparkFriends that have gone all in as a family to be healthy! That's exciting! They inspire me! Their kids shine! We're blessed to have all these Sparks closest to us. Let's not waste that beautiful energy! Much love and shine on!

Go, Monty and Gianna and GrandmaDarren! Loved reading your story on your Spark page, and I agree that setting the example is the best. My mom and I may not have always seen eye-to-eye, but I can credit her with introducing me to long walks and raw veggies from an early age.

Monty, you know I don't live anywhere near you and I consider you a tremendous resource! Congrats to Gianna! I've gotten my girls more active, Sarah hikes more with me and Annie is going to run the 1/2 marathon with me in Missoula next July! I claim that as SUCCESS!

Way to go, Monty! I try to be an example to my grandkids, too. I have joined them many times at school when they do the before school jog club and walked the track with them-used to be I could jog and beat them but now they beat me. My grandson has graduated to Jr High now but he did earn his 100 mile t-shirt before he did-the miles add up all through elementary school so Cheyenne should get hers this year, too.

I keep working on my family...invite them to my walks, etc. Sometimes they come, sometimes they don't/can't, and sometimes they participate. Every action of positive example is worth it!!

Way to go Gianna! Sounds like she did her granddad proud! You and Gianna's home-girl seem to be great examples for her. Keep making it happen Monty and DSSECRETS!
