Day 23: TMI

Thursday, September 13, 2012

OK, Gentle Reader, you have been with me this far. I hope you are prepared for some oversharing...

Today, I am going for my first of two back-to-back colonics. Yup, I am actually voluntarily paying someone to clean me out "down there." It was recommended to me that I consider a colonic by several Eastern and Western doctors after my first round of chemo, and there have been a couple of more rounds of both chemo and radiation since then. Other survivors I know report that the experience helped them in countless ways. So, I'm going to give it a try. It's hard to believe that any cleanse would be complete without getting out the remnants of all those poisons.

I feel really lucky to have the option to go to a practitioner and an establishment that come highly recommended to me. I'll post a link below in case you want to read more about the process. It's not like an enema. It sounds much more humane. Those I know who have chosen colon hydrotherapy say that these folks are the very best: gently, knowledgeable, compassionate. I am actually looking forward to it! I'll let you know how it all "turns out."

I hope it helps you out and you feel better afterwards. I read that you are allowed to insert the tube on your own and that made me cringe. I hope you did better than I did when I had to do an enema for a colonscopy. I damaged myself, as I couldn't get the tube inserted properly. Now I take the enema into the day surgery, the nurse does it for me and I finish the procedure there. I really hope you feel better as you've been through a long journey.
