In January I started a challenge for the year for the Lifestyle Change team for which I am a co-leader. There was to be challenges each month and the member with the most points would be the team member of the month. Each member of the month would be eligible for a drawing for a gift certificate to the SparkPeople store. I was encouraged when we started out with 10 people signing up for the challenge. As the month ended there were only 6 participants left. In February it lessened to 5, In March there were 4. Until there was only three of us, myself, LALMEIDA AND JCEDIT89. The monthly team member of the month has been one of us each month. Since I never intended to be the one to win the gift certificate to the store, I have decided to go ahead and give both LALMEIDA AND JCEDIT89 gift certificates. Congratulations to both of them and may they enjoy shopping at the SparkPeople store. I know it isn't the end of the year, but it was obvious one of them was going to win the certificate at the end of the challenge then why wait. But, they have both stuck with me through the challenge so I couldn't leave one of them out.
Honestly, I felt like sending them the certificate and just end the challenge now. When I can't get members to participate, including other co-leaders why go on. But, I don't like giving up on a challenge. Then I receive a SparkGoodie from JCEDIT89 thank me for the certificate and the challenge. This wasn't the first time I had heard from her how the challenge was motivating her. So, I realized I may not be helping all of the 100+ members on the team. But, if my effort helps one I have accomplished something with this challenge. So, even though the prize has been given out the challenge for 2012 continues until the end of the year.
What will happen in 2013? Who knows. If you are a member of the Lifestyle Change team and reading this, I welcome suggestions for challenges and for ways to get you and others active in the team. When I was given the chance to co-lead this team I was excited about it because the concept of the team is exactly why I am a member of SparkPeople. I want to keep the Lifestyle Change team going if only for me and JCEDIT89, who says my challenges motivate her. But, I would love to motivate others and be motivated by them/you. So, ideas? Anybody?
