The greatest compliment that was ever paid me was when one asked me what I thought ,and attended to my answer." Henry David Thoreau

Have you ever been at a party and someone comes up to you and asks you a question?
wow you think they think I am important . You start to answer their question when they start talking to someone else, or get that far away look that let's you know that they are not listening at all. And then you feel deflated. and small and unimportant,

Ever read people's blogs here and are tired or distracted .When that happens you do not get the idea or all the information in their blog at all. Then you may type them a response that say's good job ,when that wasn't the response they were looking for at all.

Well this week I have been distracted by the pain of a rib injury and the medication I am taking for it. I really have to concentrate with your blogs and read them over and over again. I feel bad because I cannot be fully present . But at least I am making the effort.

So if you care here are some tips on reading a blog and responding.
Read the whole blog word for word no speed reading is involved ,no skipping words or phases. Read it all and read it again if need be.
Think of all the time someone spent on it .Look for the message they are trying to convey. If you don't understand it go back and read some of the person other blogs for a clue.
Then sit and think for a few minutes on how you would like to respond. Remember the idea is too make someone feel good. To make them feel special and loved and appreciated. Then try to think of my grandmother's favorite saying if you don't have anything nice to say say nothing at all.

If you are pressed for time a simple emoticon can do. You can really make someone's day by reading their blog and responding it is almost like getting a hug from a friend the next best thing in the cyberworld. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

It's a bit like not listening when someone is talking, isn't it?

I speant a long time thinking about my last injury, what it meant, but, shame on me, haven't yet shared it....you've spurred me on! But first, to respond to a few blogs!

You're so right Joanne, often I'll leave replying til later in the day if I'm not "with it" or think that someone is requesting specific advice and I want to be as supportive as possible.
Hope you feel stronger soon hun, know you must be in some real pain and it took some concentration to write this blog.
Now go and rest up babe, you need to heal emoticon emoticon

You're so right - and that's why when I'm not fully present, I often don't leave a message. I do hope your rib pain goes away and thank you for the honest blog about something we all tend to do at times (in cyberworld and in real life).
