Walking shoes are important

The right pair are important! Over the weekend, I decided my feet were hurting way too much (both feet) to the point that I wanted to make an excuse for not walking or even getting out of the car to go in to a store with my sweetie pie. (This is not me - I do not like excuses, they make me angry and frustrated) (I always challenge myself) When I told Jim how much my feet were aching and I was starting to get concerned - he said, "you need walking shoes" ( I walk every day for several miles, I also do step aerobics, and other types of aerobic exercise several days a week) I walk a friends dog on Saturdays, this past weekend was becoming painful walking the dog on gravel. I walk on concrete a lot and now and then I'll break in to a brief jog but not much running due to discomfort in my chest, but I like to shock the body. So, being the woman/mom/sweetie-pie who always makes sure my boys and honey pie have the best shoes but mine are $20 shoes from Kohl's and they are 2+ years old; we went to Coach's Corner in Terre Haute. I told the salesman the problem/ he put me in an $80 pair (gasp!) $85 with tax, I refused to take them off - they felt so good. I was hurting when I walked in that store - I felt great when I walked out! Now, keep in mind, my feet are still tender now and then and sensitive as I believe I really bruised them (or something) But man oh man! It feels good to walk again! I couldn't wait! Part of me said, "wait a few days to heal your aching feet but I can't stand it as I love to walk" So, I am taking it easy as far as I'm doing 2 mile walks instead of 4, weight lifting and not doing step aerobics for a few days. It's only been 3 days but my feet are feeling normal again! I would never have spent that much on myself but the salesman pointed out, wear them for a year - you'll be back each year for a new pair. My attitude was, If I can't walk cause I'm hurting then why not give this a try(?) I'm glad I gave it a try. I'm glad I spent $85 on myself for a good pair of walking shoes. If you're curious what I got because there are a lot to choose from, I got the Saucony, Grid Launch. I had never heard of them before I walked in to that store. I'm 48, I still have many more years of walking to do - I'm investing in my walking shoes. I'm investing in me.
