Why isn't today at the very least, a national day of mourning?

Edited to add: Perhaps it's time to write to my congressman and my rep and my president. My be my local representatives in state government & my city too.

    I agree with you. We have so many other days during the year, today should be a national holiday as Memorial Day and Veteran's Day and President's Day and Martin Luther King day.
