Monday, why must you come so soon?

Monday, September 10, 2012

It was a nice, relaxing weekend overall.

Actually, I felt like a bear most of Sunday until my husband pushed me out the door for a run. (I had been snapping at him and the children, a fact I feel bad about in retrospect.) Things were better about 1 hr and 5 miles later. emoticon

This morning we took my husband's minivan in to the shop...its got to get some sort of sensor repaired if its to pass inspection. Money is really tight and I'm not sure how much this repair is going to cost... the shop offers financing..and if we can/have to that's the route we are going to go. Otherwise, we have a little money we had "hidden" in an ING account.. its not much, but we could transfer it back and pay for the repair that way.

At any rate, hubby and I put the kids on the bus this morning, then I followed him into the shop. He dropped his minivan off there and then he took me to work... so he has my car. Its so funny because I always bring my lunch and don't go out until its time to go home anyway, but it just bothers me not to have my car there... you know? (We decided he would take my car and that way he can get the kids in case his car isn't ready..and then come get me, because I can wait here at the library and then we don't have to worry about being late at daycare.)

Another thing that sort of bumms me out is that we thought his car would be paid off in Jan 2013... and instead it won't be June 2013. (sigh)... My car is a 2001 and IS paid off...but of course eventually I will need/want a newer car. If we can, we'd like to go a few months with ZERO car payments total, but we'll see... something will likely blow up or break down..that's the sort of luck we have.

OMG... they found more than the initial problems we thought/knew about which I thought would run in the 200-400$ range... we're talking almost 2000$ worth of repairs. OMFG. emoticon emoticon We have an home equity account which we have been trying to pay down these past couple of years... (used it for remodeling the house, financing our adoption of Miss Georgia, etc)... we're going to have to use the money from there..because the intrest rate from that is less than the financing from the car repair shop. I HATE the feeling like whenever we manage to get a little ahead something comes and kicks our feet out from under us.. what if we didn't have that account?

Streaking day 36 in progress!

Are all the repairs necessary? Can you get a second opinion? For that much $$, it might be worth it to take it somewhere else.

Fingers crossed for a reasonable repair on the car.

Glad to hear you had a nice weekend despite your rough Sunday which improved. I hope the car repairs are minor and your able to pay them off easily. I hate not having a car too...it makes me feel trapped and married to where I am even though if I had the car I wouldn't be going anywhere. Have a great day.

Hopefully the car repairs are minor and inexpensive. :) I know how you feel about not having a car.. My BF and I work in the same building and occasionally carpool. When my car isn't here it feels weird even if his car is! It's just a reduction in personal freedom that we're so used to.

Sundays always seem to be my hibernation days. Way to go on getting some activity in though!

Good luck with the car repairs. Hopefully, it won't cost too much! emoticon
