Survived another day...

Sunday, September 09, 2012

I spoke to Mike today and let him know I wasn't happy the way he treated me on Friday. Since almost dying, and finally admitting he had a drinking problem and is now in AAA several times a week, he has become an expert in what others need. He has gotten very righteous and is telling me I need counseling too. It was like talking to a wall, he didn't seem to hear anything I said, and I had to listen, again, how he almost died. Not just once but several times. I almost died 4 times and I didn't act like that..

Well I had a good evening watching tv with John.

Good night my dear friends.

Jeanne is right. Just enjoy you genuine friends now, and try to support Mike when he's in the mood. He's going through a rough time now.
Things will work out in time.

As a longtime member of AA, I, too, would suggest Al-Anon. The disease of alcoholism is baffling and powerful, and cannot be explained or absorbed in a short length of time, and cannot be explained at all by someone new in the program.

I think that you should be able to be friends with all of these people but none of them have any right to ask you for money and it sounds like you should stop giving it to them as it is causing resentment among them. You should not be put in the middle of this and blamed for people not being able to take of themselves. These people all need counseling. They are the ones who aren't coping well.

You can't change him..only yourself...taking the focus off his issue and putting it on you is not accepting responsibility for his problem.

I'm glad that Mike is trying to find help with AA, but not at the expense of others. I hope he can see the light and soon.
