Winning or Whining

Sunday, September 09, 2012

I set some very realistic goals nearly a month ago. I started off full steam ahead and suddenly hit a road block. My Mother in law has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. She lives next door and requires alot of my time and assistance. Eating healthy and portion control is AOK. But my sleep is weaken trying to get things done. I don't have a spare moment to exercise. This is what I would classify as the whining part of this blog.
I am proud to report that I have lost 3 pounds . I have successfully walked minimum of 6000 steps a day with 4 of them over 10000! I have not taken my blood pressure in a few days , and I have not had time to log in and track my nutrition. I have forced my myself 30 minutes a day dedicated to ME. I have been sewing and crocheting for the holidays. I have not given up , I WILL NEVER GIVE UP! With Sparkpeople I am always winning when I am on the right path!

You are not whining. Caring for family members in time of need is admirable and you are not exaggerating when you say it takes time. You will succeed by doing what you're doing - what you can, when you can. There's no doubt that you'll make good decisions on priorities even though it's not exactly what you want to be doing that day. Actually, Sparking is a very good way to help yourself while you are caregiving. I have older parents with health issues.

    Paula,

I am so sorry to read about your MIL. I hope a miracle happens and her health condition changes. I also hope you are able to get more rest SOON.

Congratulations on losing three pounds. That is a great success. Those steps and other great things you are doing are making a change. Now to get you some sleep. I'm sure more weight loss will come if you continue the great things you are doing.
