I have been a member of Spark People for a little while - mostly observing and using the tools. Then, recently, I received blood work back that showed I am pre-diabetic and it was a wake up call. It's time to take this process seriously.
I've quit smoking - 4 days without a single smoke (it's been 6 days for my husband). So, I want to be sure that I don't have the "weight gain" associated with not smoking as well as lose the weight to help my blood sugar.
So - I have published my goals out here for all to see - to help hold me accountable. I will complete the "Couch to 5K" process so that I can walk/run in the 5K in February - lose 10% of my current body weight (as a start) and lower my cholesterol.
It's frustrating at times to know that if I had stuck with my same goals a year or two ago - that I would be at a maintenance phase right now. But, I am a believer that all things happen when they should and now it's my time.
It helps to have the love and support of a wonderful husband. :) Stay tuned as I journey to fitness.
