Discouraged...

Sunday, September 09, 2012

Last night I decided to go through my closet and try on clothes that haven't fit to see if they fit better to get some motivation out of me. I tried on shirt after shirt, noticing the difference and smiling at myself while I did a little dance in the mirror. I was proud of myself and excited to see the changes that have been happening to my body... HOWEVER...
I decided to go to the gym and that's when the moment of happiness wore off and I got all sad again about my body. I put on my gym clothes and as I was leaving I looked at myself in the mirror and noticed that I still feel like a fish-out-of-water at the gym. I put on 4 or 5 different shirts, finally picking one that looked decent. I wish I could go to the gym and not worry about looking like the blob while I'm on the treadmill!

Thank you everyone for the comments! It makes me feel MUCH better!
I'm really not on the "fat" side, just have a little extra, but it feels just as bad sometimes.
I'm trying to keep my motivation up and spirits lifted though, so I'm hoping for a good outcome.

I don't go to the gym much anymore. But, when I did I always thought how awesome it was to see heavier people working their butts off (literally, LOL) trying to get healthy. Honestly, though, if a heavier person if just socializing and not working, there will be judgment forthcoming. I've seen that happen, too. Good luck! emoticon emoticon

Im more on the skinny side and when im at the gym and i see someone who is a bit heavier i never judge. I mean isn't that why we all go to the gym? To stay healthy and try to lose weight? Anywho...just wanted to give you a view point from another gym member.

Boy do I know where you are coming from. At one point I refused to go to the gym for that very reason. But most people at the gym will say or think "good for you...you're trying to get healthy." Someone posted on a very uplifting article on here the other day addressing that very issue. Think it was called something like Hey Fat Girl. (Sounds bad but it's wasn't.) Best of luck!

I remember feeling that way, and I still do sometimes. One thing to remember is, most people aren't really looking at you anyways when they are at the gym - they are focused on their own routine. Of course, there are the few people who think judging is their job, but in all reality if they are going to spend their time judging how you look, let them -- you're working hard to get better! Thats all that matters

I feel like a blob somedays, but I know that I will one day be back to lean and slim! Being judged is the one reason I use to hate going to the gym! But I would rather be judged than continue to sit at home lazy and fat!
