Odd, but not wholly unwelcome. Husband actually arrived home at the "normal" time, so we had our usual pre-dinner wee drinkie and decompression time together.
I brought home a "perfect margarita" kit from KS for my son, and he declared margaritas too sweet and I could have the kit. Fine and dandy with me - I loves me a good margarita. Calories or not! I love 'em. I've had a few out of this kit since arriving home, and last night I mixed one up just as I've always done. Had about three sips, thinking all the while "this just doesn't taste right". Added some orange juice. Still ick. So I poured it down the sink.
Husband made me our usual Bundaberg Red Rum and orange juice. He mixed it just like I like - not too strong. I had three sips of that and then passed it to him.
I have the taste for hard alcohol. It's genetic I think. Not a great thing, of course, but I keep it in check and never drink "too much" although I drink "enough".
Never in my adult life has the "this just doesn't taste right" happened. I'm wondering if this new way I'm eating (the high good fat/moderate protein/low carb fruit and veg plus plenty of water) has influenced things for the better. Perhaps since I'm back to drinking a lot of water and becoming well-hydrated again, I just dont' need the extra liquid? Maybe I'm getting the right combination of nutrients suddenly and my body isn't searching for something it won't get from the booze? Whatever it is, I'll take it.
