TMI NSV and farmer's market goodies

Saturday, September 08, 2012

I realized I have had another non-scale victory although it's a bit of a TMI - my IBS is under control! I've been having my first normal BMs since I was like a young child. I've been on a med for about a year and it helped more than any other I tried but the healthy diet has done so much more! It makes me wonder if it's a gluten sensitivity. I was tested for celiac but that came back negative (or positive, depending on how you look at it). I have still been eating some bread but the good stuff. Or it could be the no more processed high-carb foods, or no more added sugar. Or all of the above! Who knows, but I love it!

I got to the farmers market today and realized my fridge was already full of veggies, so I got Asian pears, bartlett pears, and peaches. And picked my own bouquet, which I love! Picking the colors and shapes of flowers that look nice together and then taking it home to arrange them. I think I need fresh flowers in my home at all times!

Congrats! I find that the more nutritious and natural foods work better for me, too.

I have to admit that my IBS is so much more under control now that I eat fairly healthy. I also think that the probiotics in my yogurt that I eat daily help to. I used to have loose BMs anytime we went out to eat, but now I know not to get quite so hungry, how to order, and when to stop eating. Much, much better than it used to be.

IBS is sometimes helped a great deal by lots of soluble fiber, which you are probably getting a LOT more of now that you are replacing non-fiber foods with healthy fiberlicious ones. =)

That farmer's market trip sounds so fun! There is a winter farmer's market near my house, but only in the winter (kind of the opposite of what you'd expect).

It must be a relief to feel like everything is working the way it should after having to deal with problems like IBS for so long. I hope that continues! Have a wonderful weekend!
