How sad

Saturday, September 08, 2012

While talking to an associate from another department at work today, the topic of healthy living and western medicine came up. The more we talked the more I began to talk about my lifestyle choices. When I told him I don't eat meat his response was 'how sad' ( he even said it with pity in his voice). How sad? Yes, how sad he said, because meat is so good. Then he asked me what I eat. With so many wonderful foods in the world, where do I start?

I can't seem to wrap my mind around someone feeling sad for my dietary choices. I'm far from feeling sad. My body isn't a morgue. It's alive with fruits and veggies and energy! I feel at peace knowing an animal didn't die for my dining pleasure.

How sad? No, I say how wonderful! emoticon emoticon

Thank you for the kind words Waterdiamonds :) I guess I'm still getting used to the responses from others. My family is accepting of my choices and I feel better than ever. emoticon

I've been vegan for 3 years, after having been vegetarian for more than 20. The comments from meat-eaters still often astound me, but the longer I live my life this way, the healthier I become, so I'm more and more immune to their misunderstanding.

All you can do is what is best for you and remain polite, as vegans are often perceived as militant kooks.

    BTW, congrats on your choice!

I have to agree with him that I wouldn't want to be a vegan, BUT if it works for you, then great.
