It's Friday!

Friday, September 07, 2012

I had a great day at school today - definitely my favorite day of the week. AND, I finish at 12:40PM on Fridays, which means I have time to do things in the afternoon (today, that was a nap). Maybe I'll get to do laundry this evening.

Ryan is finally starting to get paid from his full-time job, and it's going to be great. He has the potential to make ~$60K this year, which is more than triple what either of us has ever made in a year, so it's very exciting, and that doesn't even include my part-time job, which should bring in ~$10K. I am much less stressed about bills than I was even 2 weeks ago. I think we're going to make it (and if we can make it here, we can make it anywhere, apparently).

I'm definitely starting to make friends in my program at school, too. The Friday class is much more relaxed/less intense than the Wednesday classes, which is nice. There's only one other student that's in all three of my classes, Jason. We're planning to go to a jazz club and a jam session that another friend of mine runs on Monday at a restaurant, so that should be fun. Ryan can come too and I hope Henry's available; it should be quite the outing.

We're finally starting to settle here, and I'm just feeling quite contented about that. My weekly schedule will look something like this:

Sunday - AM workout
work 11:30-6:15PM
PM practice flute/sax and read for classes

Monday - AM workout
work 2-8:15PM
PM practice sax/clarinet and read for classes

Tuesday - AM workout and laundry
research/homework in New Jersey
PM practice clarinet

Wednesday - up at 6:30AM

class 10AM-4PM or 6PM

Thursday - AM workout

PM practice clarinet/flute and read for classes

Friday - up at 6:30AM

It has been decades since I completed my BA. However, I remember that discipline, planning and hard work made a big difference. Looks like you are doing well. Enjoy the journey!
