Company's Coming

Friday, September 07, 2012

This afternoon I went grocery shopping. That's not unusual, I know, but we're getting company Sunday evening. DH's cousins (2 couples) are coming from Kansas City and will be staying until Tuesday morning. I can't even remember all the things I bought that I haven't had in my grocery cart for such a long time: ice cream, crackers, summer sausage, chips and dip, a lot of cheese, etc. I also bought plenty of fresh fruit and veggies, but the problem isn't over-eating those things...it's all the other stuff I know is in the cupboard, fridge and freezer!

Right now at this very moment it doesn't seem to be a big issue, but by tomorrow I'll be thinking about those blasted crackers and chips and dips. I expect I'll be busy enough for at least part of the day to not get into trouble with them, but as the day winds down...hmm...that might be another story.

This is a test, SparkFriends! We will see what I'm made of, as my plan has always been to not bring it into the house in the first place. If it's not here, I can't eat it. I do have to feed these people yummy stuff, though...they're awfully nice! So, I'll do my best and make sure that I don't get overly hungry, stay on my plan as much as possible and just enjoy their company! I've come too far to give in or give up at this point!!!

Note to self: Suck it up, Jeannie, and just deal with it! Nobody ever told you it would be easy.

Do you have cut up veggies ready, too. Chris

Hope the visit goes well for you. Remember, Jeannie, only you can do it. No one can do it for you (but I would if I could..lol). Enjoy your time with family. Have a great time of catching up. Believe in yourself and you will make it through with flying colors.
Hugz,
Sharon

It's a challenge when you have guest - a couple of things I have done when entertaining - is send people home with 'goodie bags' so I don't have a lot of left overs to worry about - if they are seniors they may enjoy having something different to eat - I also, prepare healthy things - fruit salad, brocolli salad, as more people are trying to eat healthy than you may realize and they will appreciate it too. Leave 'a note like ' emoticon in a space /fridge that only you know what it means! Remember it is a 'healthy lifestyle you are creating for yourself not a 'diet'... emoticon and enjoy your visit emoticon

Jeannie, I don't think this will be a big deal for you. I know that you are not perfect, as none of us are, but if anyone can pass this test, it's you! Like Lise says, is a chip worth onederland? ((hugs)) noel

Hi Jeannie ...sounds like fun. But I hear you with the crackers & Chips. Sometimes hard for me to resist as well. The veggies and low fat dip sound like a good option to have on hand. I agree - the extra fat may make your system sick. I had a wet burrito yesterday and am I paying for it today.... Have fun!

Hi Jeannie, Just make sure you have some healthy cut up veggies and a low fat dip for you and maybe the others may be watching their weight and enjoy some also. Are they sleeping at your house or a local hotel? It is wonderful to have people come and visit and you have a beautiful home to have them there. Have fun playing catch-up!!

Hugs & Love,

Jill

Jeannie, you can do this! Let them all eat that stuff, but not you. Anyway, think of how you may react to it. It might make you sick. They don't call it junk food for nothing.

My dear hubby eats this stuff all the time. It's always in the house. But eating it makes me sick and I wouldn't eat it anymore than I would eat road kill.

The fun part...enjoy the company. Nice to see people you haven't seen for awhile and nice to see people who are seeing a thinner you!

I understand just what you are going through!! I have had too many of those things in the house having granddaughters that only eat foods that aren't on my eating list. I don't think I am looking at it as a pass/fail test but a test I grade myself on...Let try a C. I am kind of average. I have a feeling you are going to go for the A, Jeannie!! I am going to cheer you on,

I know you can do it, Jeanne! You may not want those things as much as you think you will! They may even make you sick if you eat them, due to all the fat in them! Your system is not the same anymore! It is healthier and will demand healthier food! I know, my body does! Good Luck! emoticon emoticon

Jeannie. Not having the food in the house does help alot but it might be unrealistic as you are finding out. This is about learning to live a lifestyle were you can actually eat anything as long as you only have alittle and track it. If it fits into your calorie range you can have it. If not, well you are a big girl, you decide. Now comes the tough stuff, my friend. I wish you success and I know you can moderate your portions and say no to what is not good for you,

It's all about portion control. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much your eating habits have changed and once your sweet company is gone get rid of the left over goodies and you'll be back on track emoticon Enjoy Jeannie.. it's about the people not the food. emoticon

SWEETIE, TRY TO REMEMBER THE ONEHUNDREDLAND. YOU DO NOT WANT TO LOSE YOUR PLACE IN THAT GROUP FOR SOME CHIPS.
BUT IF YOU DO, I STILL DON'T THINK YOU WILL, JUST ENJOY EVERYTHING IN SMALL QUANTITIES.
IF THAT DOES NOT WORK, THEY WILL BE GONE WEDNESDAY AND YOU GO BACK TO WHAT YOU KNOW.
EASY FOR ME TO SAY, WHEN I HAVE NONE IN THE HOUSE...LOL
