I don't know why they call me Quirky

First of all to be Spark related: the battle is won!! 168-8

Finally broke through that pesky 170s trail that have been long since guarded by the pesky and relentless mutant resistant fat cells.

Still have quite the war on fat though......

As a reward, I bought the shoes to go with the dress. What do you think? They are SUEDE!!!!!!

**shoedazzle.com**

I'm so excited to get them. My niece's wedding is next Saturday (not this one, but next) and I'm so hoping to squeeze myself into the dress and shoes...they still make corsets if all else fails right?

Classes are going well. I'm taking Nutrition which I'm hoping helps out with my daily life. Anthropology IS as fun as I'd hoped. Hard, as I'm studying the various names of the skull and bones, but fun reading case files and determining how one can be identified when nothing is really left. Crazy stuff!!

Algeblah still plagues me with those negatives though.

and I'm taking Public Speaking, it's nothing like Larry Crowne.

Ever heard the expression "you're not helping me, but making more work for me"?

I have this thing, you know pet peeves kind of? It's with laundry. The never ending battle of laundry. I have just today discovered why I'm always doing this thing and how my family, bless their little hearts, are always creating more work for me.

See, my "rule of thumb" is that the laundry is never done unless it's been washed, dried, folded and put away. If it's just "washed" it's not done, right? right. Knew you'd understand.

Well, I caught myself today looking at the heaping pile of laundry on the dryer and out of habit threw them all on the ground to wash.

When it dawned on me.

I'm always forever washing clean clothes......and I don't mean the one or two items that magically appear back in the basket even though no one has worn the darn thing.

I stood there having internal battles with the various voices in my head.

"They're clean!"
"but they're not done"
"that's true"
"all you have to do is fold them"
"they're not warm"
"nope they've hit the floor, too late"

and back in the washer they went. I looked in the dryer. Yup, more clothes. So, the dryer went on. One simply cannot fold clothes unless the clothes are warm and the top of the washer/dryer is empty.

So, guess what I'm doing today??

so, call me Quirky.

love the shoes. I myself have a pr of blue suede ones that look very similar. They were a sale buy that I could not resist.
Alas, Elvis and I will never kick off our blue suede shoes to snuggle on the couch but that is part of my fantasy..............

Hey Quirky, pleased to meet you. I'm OCD.

At least your quirkiness is in the relative privacy of your home. I constantly catch myself starting to straighten the papers on other peoples' desks. Which is not always appreciated for some reason.

Congrats on the loss!

Ohhhh the red shoes are AWESOME!!

I'd have to be wayyyy thinner before I can ever get back on high heels shoes. I can't get much higher than Birkenstocks or Kalso Earth Shoes - maybe Alegria shoes. But once upon a time I did have some hot high heeled shoes... my my !

Last night we were at TJ Maxx's and I saw some KILLER blue satiny high heeled pumps, had to be 5 inch heel just for the rise itself, plus another 1.5 inches for the platform part. Gorgeous but it was a trip to the Emergency Room just waiting to happen so I just admired them and left them on the shelf!!

Sooo wayyy to go on the 160-ville. You are gonna ROCK THAT WEDDING!!

And I agree, you're not a HIPPO any more. Gotta think of something more positive.

emoticon

and I DO NOT mean HUMONGOUS, because that's the opposite direction way past HIPPO.... So now, maybe CURVACEOUS CORINNA? CUTIE CORINNA? COURAGEOUS CORINNA?

emoticon

Just something to think about!!!

Julia

So congratulations and emoticon on the shoes

As far as laundry goes it goes in a basket to the room it belongs and I fold it there.
I never put anything on the top of the dryer. I feed my cat there. He loves it but his hair never mixes with clean clothes...

Not one to ever do something twice...

Great dress and shoes! Congrats on reaching your next level! It always feels so good when you can break through. Keep up with healthy choices and really - no need to rewash the clothes. I usually just run them back through the dryer for about 10 minutes to make most of the wrinkles go away. Quirky is all good!

    Why hello there Quirky!

And, oh, I was so so so glad when my kids got old enough to do their own laundry. If they didn't fold or put away, it was their own problem. I washed, dried, folded, hung, and put away my things and felt so done each week it was refreshing.

Very cute shoes! (I'm a fan of suede, though I lean more to boots.)

Hi, This is Margie, from Fat Busters!

Now that you are down to the 160's, do you now have that waist that you've been wanting?!!

Maybe you will consider a name change? Somehow "Hopeful Hippo" doesn't go with someone who now has a waist and can fit into that dress!

Great work!

Margie

lol! Have missed your great sense of humor. I can so relate with the laundry 'issues'. I feel like my life revolves around Mt. Clothesmore!

WAY TO GO hitting 160-ville!!! Join me in that new group - the folks there are MUCH too quiet! That's the first thing I did after I weighed myself and logged in. I'm SO PSYCHED to FINALLY be there!

Your shoes are awesome!!!! You will totally rock them, girl! Congrats!!!

emoticon job on your weight loss! I know you'll be where you want to be for the wedding! Love the dress! Love the shoes! Make sure you share pics!

I used to be like that with laundry. Now, with all the littles, we're just wearing whatever is the cleanest. Notice that I didn't say clean, emoticon . We're all human and we just do the best we can with what we have! If you want to only fold warm laundry, then go for it! emoticon

Thanks for such a quirky blog! emoticon

Way to go on the weight loss! You're a baller! I'm just ITCHING to get to my next tens-mark, it must feel AMAZING!

And...I know nothing about shoes, so...they're cute? That's what I should say, right? They're red. They're red shoes. Did you want red shoes? I hope so. Because that's all I can tell. They're red.

Gosh, I have baskets of clean and dried laundry that I just NEVER have time for folding! Boyfriend and I usually just end up pulling our day's clothes from the baskets! Awful, I know, but we're super busy as of late.

Love the shoes! And I agree with only folding warm laundry! Although, I will fold it cold and wrinkled (my boyfriends work clothes can be wrinkled - I don't care!!) but if it's my pants or jeans, back into the dryer before they are folded!!! My boyfriend (er, fiancee) does 99% of our laundry (I'M SO LUCKY!!!!) but it usually ends up in baskets unfolded. Anyway, I understand!!! :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

You my dear are funny! Yes they can be folded if they are cold, if they are coming out of the dryer they are clean. I personally hate clothes and Terry actually does it 99.9% of the time. Yes I know I'm spoiled!!
So proud that you have hit below the 170 mark as I know how hard you have been working. Me on the other hand have been super lazy in the last week and not tracking. I know shame on me.....but the walking is back and I will also get below my stupid marker. It's that one pound....I know once I drop that I'll be good!

You are so funny (and quirky). Who knew someone could make laundry so entertaining!

I'm fascinated with archeology and the anthropological side of it is so interesting. Finding out how they lived with just little clues is so cool!! I bet you are loving the class!

Anyway, the shoes are adorable and you are too. You're going to rock it at the wedding! Congrats on the weight threshold breakthrough too!
