ABCs for BLC20

is for ABOVE and BEYOND...Does competition push you? - Yes. This type of competition pushes me in the sense that I don’t want to let the team down. However, in some ways I don’t like to view weight loss as a “competition”. I gladly celebrate the success of others, even if it drops me a little lower in the standings. If you were beating me in a race, I would not stick my leg out and make you trip LOL. I would like to see the Pixies name in lights this round. I'd really love to see the Pixies in lights at the end of Week 12, which would mean that we would shine on the BLC20 team logo forever.
B is for BLC rounds... Newbie?(first BLC round) Oldie?(1-3 rounds) Goldie?(long time BLCer)? Former BLC team(s)? Wow, I've graduated to goldie status. My fourth round, always a Pixie.
C is for CHILDREN...you have? Sharon (27) and David (23). Also have Sharon’s fiancé and my future son-in-law Josh (27)
D is for DOWNFALL...what's you're biggest temptation? Cookies or ice cream, depending on what’s available.
E is for Early Bird or Night Owl...Night owl. I keep trying to change that without much success
F is for FURRY FRIENDS...you have? A mixed breed, primarily Bernese Mountain Dog named George, who truly is one of my best friends.
G is for GROCERIES...what do you fill your cart with? Fruits, veggies, Greek yogurt, nuts and meat. Sometimes junk food but fortunately that happens less often.
H is for HOME...what state do you call home? New Jersey, of course!!! Grew up in Bergen County, near the George Washington Bridge, and now live a little further west in Essex County. In the interest of full disclosure, I was born in New York, but my parents moved here before I started school, so I am a true Jersey girl.
I is for INSPIRE...who or what is your roll model/inspiration? My fellow Pixies inspire me. My children inspire me. I am inspired by Spark stories about people who have lost a lot of weight, especially if they have had special obstacles to overcome, which I have not.
J is for JOB...What do you do for a living? I am a technical writer. My jobs are short-term contracts, so effectively I am a very well paid temporary worker. It’s great when I have a gig and terrible when I don’t. My current assignment is supposed to finish at the end of the year, but I am hoping it gets extended.
K is for KEEP IT SIMPLE...What's your focus when short on time? Walking
L is for LOG...Do you use the Nutrition and Fitness trackers? I have made some improvements, especially with fitness, but I need to become more consistent.
M is for MOTIVATION...Which gives you more, Mirror or Scale? Scale.
N is for NAME...What's the meaning behind your sparkname? The Jerseygirl part is pretty self explanatory. 24 is my birthday (in July). Jerseygirl is also a shout to the Springsteen song of the same name, which is one of my favorites.
O is for OUNCES...How many ounces of water do you consume on a daily basis? 48-64ish. I have gotten better about this. I am better during the week than on the weekend because I now keep a 24 oz. bottle at work and usually fill it and drink it twice in a day.
P is for PRODUCE...How many fruits and veggies do you consume daily? About 5.
Q is for QUOTE...what's your favorite? Don’t have one. I did come up with a mantra during the last round, which is the title of my spark page: Getting skinny is more fun than getting fat. I believe this.
R is for ROUTINE...Average number of days and minutes you exercise weekly? I normally get at least 45 minutes of walking every day. Also do treadmill at the health club when I can. Used to get a lot of exercise by walking the dog, but unfortunately it getting harder on him, so I have to look for exercise in other ways.
S is for STATURE...How tall are you? 5'10"
T is for TIME...What time zone are you in? Eastern
U is for UNWIND...What is your favorite pass time or hobby? Walking, listening to audiobooks, surfing the net, watching old episodes of “Jeopardy” which I DVR and watch when I can. Also enjoy watching baseball (go Yankees!) and basketball.
V is for VACATION...If you could travel anywhere, what destination would you choose? Believe it or not, I have always wanted to go to Crater Lake National Park since I learned about it in elementary school. Otherwise, maybe Eastern Europe (Prague) or Israel.
W is for WEIGHT WORKOUT...Do you follow a consistent ST program? No, I need to improve.
X is for "X" MARKS THE SPOT...What do you want to see happen these 12 weeks, other than the scale move? Like to see my stomach shrink, and I need to become more mindful of my eating. Also, somehow, I need to become more consistent with strength training. I have "talked" about doing a lot of different things. Now I really have to do them!!
Y is for YESTERDAY...Do you dwell on poor choices or allow them to push you forward? I tend to get over them pretty fast.
Z is for ZERO...name one weight loss tool you couldn't live without...In previous rounds it was my pedometer. Now it is my Fitbit. However, if push came to shove, I could probably manage without it. Don't think I could manage without Sparkpeople, though.
