I am helping a friend homeschool her two sweet kids. I truly have a heart for them. They are creative, energetic, and excited about learning. I have helped one day and the only real problem is they do not want to obey me! This is a big problem. Their mom, my friend loves them for the same reasons I do (and more) but loves that they want to lead during the day. However, I know that whether curriculum is loose or structured, attempts to educate will fail if a child is not attentive to the authorities placed in his/her life.
God's word say that "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right." (Eph. 6:1) A life of obedience to God begins as learning submission to the authorities God places in our lives (mainly parents). Following God means to adhere to His word in submission and obedience. In Proverbs it says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. That means truly acknowledging that God is sovereign and in control and not myself.
God, please give me wisdom as I talk to my friend and help me as I seek to honor you by helping to instruct these precious children!
I am so thankful for:
1. A day off today to pray, read God's word and plan for teaching and talking to my friend.
2. I fixed a quick, good meal with food gifts from friends and homemade refried beans (Idaho haystacks & steamed broccoli)!
3. My evening walk with my husband -- we share and are active all in one.
Have a happy day!
