Day Three

Thursday, September 06, 2012

What fun...vertigo came to visit this morning. Brought nausea along with her. I am just thankful it's not something I have to deal with on a daily basis, and it's not debilitating. Might be time to talk to the doc about Stimatrol....I believe that's what it's called. I read up on it and this medication sort of scares me given it's original uses as an anti-psychotic.

I have an ear "disease" called Meniere's. A simple fluid imbalance that causes all sorts of havoc. Vertigo being one. Some folks are so unlucky that they suffer constantly. Me, I'm just mostly deaf, dizzy, and dopey. (Dopey isn't a symptom but I blame it on my ears anyway.)

My lovely daughter came over when she was done with work and made lunch for us. Chicken stir fry with napa cabbage and broc and rice noodles. mmm! Unfortunately this vertigo saps my energy and I had to fall asleep on the sofa right after lunch. She's used to my vagaries though. :)

Husband still working on the big wildfire. He might be home late yet again...I really hate it for his sake. Seems cruel to require a 9-day string of work days, with all being overtime in extremely arduous conditions. He hasn't complained yet but I think it's only because he's got no extra energy to run his mouth. The fuel load is high all around AU and they are anticipating a bad wildfire season. The fire he's on now was a "hazard reduction" that got out of hand. He's looking at six months of this.

So if I don't have to cook dinner tonight, I think it'll be something quick and easy like bacon and eggs.

Hmm.. is it possible the Meniere's is related to an allergy? Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants (and determination!) if it could be tracked back to a wheat allergy!
Ok, that was a stretch. The Internet and Google search can be a dangerous thing LOL

I'm sorry you had a spell and hope you're feeling much better now. That's a rugged outlook for your hubby. Hoping for the best for all!

There is a reported sound cure for menieres that you play to get your hairs in your ears to stand back up. Might be worth looking into it. I have a few friends with it and it must be so uncomfortable. I had similar symptom before my sinus op a few years ago and constant noise is debilitating.
Hope the fire danger isn't as bad as predicted and your DH get relief soon.
Sending hugs
