My friend Trish and I took a road trip to Chicago today. We walked down the Magnificent Mile, to the lake, saw "The Bean" statue, and had lunch at Russian Tea Time. It was a fun day. We spent a little over 8 hours out of town.

I'm feeling great about the food choices I've been making. It's nice to know that most restaurants have healthy options available. I got a grilled chicken kebob with onion and carrot salad at Russian Tea Time. I haven't had sweets for over a week now--I'm sticking on track with my clean eating. Clean eating is giving me more energy for running and I'm sleeping better after cutting sweets.

I took a nap after I got back home in Madison. When my alarm went off, I didn't feel like getting out of bed to go running. But I'm glad that I convinced myself to go. I remember the saying, "Don't feel like it? Do it anyway." Motivation will come and go--good habits and self-discipline will keep you on track.

I met up with Catalyst run group at 6:30pm. We did a 3 mile out and back to Machinery row along the cap trail at a 9:30 pace. The weather was overcast and terribly hot and humid again. The humidity made it more difficult to run so we had to push ourselves a bit. But it felt really good when we were done.
