I did it! Day One Couch to 5K!

Tuesday, September 04, 2012

I did it! W1D1... My first training session with the Fleet Feet Sports No Boundaries Training Program aka a The Couch-to-5K Running Plan Was it hard, yes it was! We did a mile today. The first couple of runs weren't bad, but after about the third, it got tough. My breathing wasn't too bad, at least not as bad as I thought it was going to be. What got me was my legs killed me...just above my ankles, but below my shins. The coaches said it's muscle in that area that is weak and not use to it, so they told me to do exercises and ice them. There's so many people in our group, probably 30ish, so didn't get to meet/talk to everyone, but did meet two very nice ladies...enjoyed their company running. Looking forward to Thursday's workout, but a little worried about my legs. I wish they'd cooperate.

Thank you everyone! As long as my legs get better and cooperate I think I can push through the coming weeks. It's so great to run with a group & mentors. It motivates me more because there are others there struggling just like me and we all do it together. They know what I'm going through! Now on to W1D2 on Thursday! Wish me luck!

Great job. You've motivated me to go out and do D2.

Congratulations! The C25K is an awesome thing to do! Don't let the long runs in Week 5-6 or so discourage you. You can do it!!!
