Canoeing with Teenage Girls

Monday, September 03, 2012

Oh what a challenge. Especially since one teenage girl didn't want to paddle at all. Let her friend do all the work. Two teenage girls kept jumping out of their canoe to swim. A four hour trip... took nearly 7 hours. Then two boats full of teenage boys caught up to us. And it was a battle of who was the cooler teenager. This included boys taking their shirts to show off their manly 15 year old chests, standing up to row their canoe, and running themselves into the shore multiple times. It was mildly entertaining. My friend says she is never bringing her daughter, and daughter's friends canoeing with us ever again. Ever.

Afterwards we went to a Hibachi grill. I didn't have time to eat while wrangling hormone driven teenage girls all day long. So by the time we reached the Japanese Steakhouse, I was famished.

This weekend was fun. I didn't eat much - we were so busy running around with M's family, and dealing with our daughters. They always seem to have more behavior problems when we have company. I didn't get much exercise in. I am still feeling crummy with this URI, but I hope to start running again on Wednesday. Hopefully by then I can breather out of my nose again, and this cough will be gone. I have been out of the running loop too long.

I will start my costume making on Wednesday. I really hope to find some fabric to sew with before then. LOL. I have a bout a month to make 4 costumes. Zombie brownie, zombie cheerleader, zombie bride, and zombie groom. We have the brownie uniform. Just need to tatter it up a bit. I have an idea of what I want to do with the cheerleader costume. It shouldn't be too difficult (knock on wood). We have been keeping our eyes out for a suit, or cheap tux that we can tatter up for M's costume. And I am making my bride dress from scratch.... it will be a corset type top with a tulle skirt. So there will be a lot of detail. M and I will be kind of zombie steampunk.... so I am trying to find some shoes that look victorian (for as cheap as possible). I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!

I hope everyone had fantastic labor day weekends!!!!!

That sounds like quite the adventure! Teenagers are almost a new species sometimes. emoticon What great memories. I'm glad you didn't start your challenge food blog, with your Japanese Hibachi dinner. I LOVE it and just reading the words has made me hungry emoticon Being sick always sucks, but when you're on a fitness roll, like you've been, it sucks even more. Hope you feel strong enough to get back to your running training soon.

Doing anything with teens is always a test of patience especially when there is teens of the opposite sex there. Kudos on getting through the trip.
