It’s just been one of those weeks!
Monday I had errands to run, so I wanted to leave early and take my bike. Well, I picked up a screw and had a flat. The Big Guy said patch it. I was worried that it wouldn’t hold because my kit was pretty old, but he said it should be okay. Patched the tire and left later than I wanted. I got into town, and sure enough, the patch didn’t hold. ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!! So I spent an hour and a half replacing the tube. It went something like this:
1. Walk to Walmart
2. Buy a new tube, tire lever, wrench, and small hand pump.
3. Change the tube
4. Try to use the hand pump, realize it’s broken.
5. Go back into Walmart, exchange hand pump.
6. Struggle for about 15 minutes to inflate tire using hand pump.
7. Finally decide to walk a block to the nearest gas station!!
What I had planned on taking just a couple of hours, took me all day, thanks to the tire.
My Folks are visiting my sister in Utah. My Dad is getting his dialysis treatments at a facility about two hours away. The staff has been really great with him, so my mom called and asked if I could get some chocolate covered macadamia nuts and send them up for the HD staff. On Tuesday, I got a 12 pack box of Chocolate covered nuts and a six pack of Maui CaraMacs (they are like Turtles, only with macadamia nuts instead of pecans). Wednesday morning I went to wrap them for mailing, and ants started pouring out of the boxes!!!! What should have been a quick trip to Waianae turned in to a long trip into Kapolei. I had to exchange the candies, walk two blocks to the post office (in the rain, no less), wrap and mail the boxes, then walk another block and a half to the bank and deposit the check Mom sent to pay for it all. To top it off, I got home and realized I forgot my keys!!!! The Big Guy wasn’t home, and when I called him, he didn’t have his keys, either. I had to crawl in through a window. Not good. I was so frustrated and tired, I didn’t want to cook. I was bad and had Jack in the Box for dinner. I didn’t even try to make it healthy; I wanted the greasy, fat laden burger!
On the plus side, I rode about a total of 45 miles in three days!
I also walked for the first time in a while, for about an hour and a half. I managed to get my first 1000 minute trophy for exercise!
(Even with losing a week’s worth of exercise to my GI problems)
For September, I want to start Strength Training again. Since I have had problems, I think I will start VERY slowly. My goal is one day of upper body/core and one day of lower body/core per week. I want to get through the month without an injury. I have also decided I need to stark walking again. Yes, I love riding, but you are supposed to change it up, right? So 1 day of cardio will be walking. I also realized that The Great Aloha Run will be here before I know it, and if I don’t start getting back into walking now, I will be in BIG trouble come race day. I also want to work on climbing hills with my bike. My regular routes are pretty flat, so when I am some where there is a hill, I end up walking my bike up. So Thursday’s ride will be another long one, with me trying to make it up Kili Drive to Makaha Towers Condominium.
I didn’t drop below 170 this week, but I did lose a little. TOM is knocking on my door, so hopefully next week will see a great number.
