Reasons 184-187 that it stinks to gain weight back...

Saturday, September 01, 2012

Four great reasons to turn things back around NOW...

184. Having to lay down on your bed to zip those jeans that you worked SO hard to get into.

185. Realizing on your potty break at work AFTER you unzip, that reason 184 happened that morning and the terror that you'll need to lay down in the bathroom stall to rezip... (thankfully, denim stretches after a couple of hours of wear...)

186. Having to answer the question "wow! how much weight have you lost?" with a number that is nearly 20 pounds higher than answering that same question this time last year. (Don't get me wrong, I was flattered to still get the compliment, but I felt the need to qualify my answer with "well, I *had* lost nearly 70 pounds, but I put a 'few' of those back on"... she didn't need to know that...)

187. Losing confidence in my athletic ability. It's letting doubt creep in and I just don't have room for that.

I'm tougher than this. I'm still down near 50 pounds from the beginning of my sparkalicious adventure, it's time to get that groove back!! I'm human and I need to remember to learn from my mistakes and move on. I don't throw in the towel, I use it to wipe off the sweat!

I'm there too. I had lost 62 pounds and I've gained about half of it back. I'm ready to get that scale moving in the other direction again! Thanks for your honest and insightful words and best of luck to you. You're inspiring!! :o)

#186 is also my downfall. After surgery this summer I gained back 8 lbs and I'm not one bit happy about it. We are all tougher than this but we need to be reminded and thanks for reminding me!! emoticon

Since I wrote my blog, I'm just 'finding' more and more people that have been feeling much like I do (gained some weight back, lost my 'Spark', etc.) ... I'm trying to get back my focus, etc. . . and you can do it too!!!

Aww, Mel....I feel for ya. I gained back some too before last round....I'm still up by about 5 to 6 pounds but I'm getting there. I think at times we have to have minor set backs to know that we are still human and how easy it is to gain it back....sometimes I thought losing was sooo hard and yet I was able to do it...then gaining back some YIKES, cuz that was EASY to do and quick too. Not good. But refocus girl, you can do this. And don't be shy, when someone says how much have you lost, be proud of the 50 pounds, even if it once was 70...I've learned that I should be proud of whatever loss I have, even if at ONE point it was x...I'm still holding on to THIS much loss, and working on getting back to the 'x'.

Be proud girl, because you haven't given up.

With other things going on it is easy to slide back into bad habits. Let's definitely not through in the towel but get our lives back on track! You can do it and so can I!

#186 has been KILLING me recently! It is such a pain to lose the weight, buy clothes that fit, then gain back weight you didn't need! Here's to losing it permanently this time!

One year ago I made the decision TO LIE TO MYSELF NO LONGER. I can't eat one cookie, one scoop of ice cream, etc.. Yesterday I was able to celebrate a sweet victory of one year of cookie, cake, candy free. What a year it has been. A whole year of not eating ice cream????? Who is in my body?. Those foods are no longer side tracking my journey to health. I urge you to give it a try.

"I don't throw in the towel, I use it to wipe off the sweat! " ~ LOVE it!!!!

You're right, you don't need to explain or apologize to anyone for the pounds you've gained back -- simply celebrate the ones that you lost and HAVEN'T gained back! This road to a healthy lifestyle is filled with twists and turns and bumps and hills, but you're still on it and moving forward -- way to go, Mel!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Ok not being a 'runner' share with me via mail : RoadID? Your personal data for emergencies?

Please don't write blogs that are so eerily descriptive of my own journey. Eeek.

Never mind, what I meant to say was: Great blog. Hang in there!
    1967 days ago
Nic... that's so funny that you said "you got this"! I bought a RoadID last week and you can engrave a line that is motivational, so i put on it "DLF-DNF-DNS: U GOT THIS"

I got it in the mail today and it does pump me to read it :-)
