September is here! Goodbye to August!

Saturday, September 01, 2012

August has probably been my worst month, problem wise in a long time.
Hubby took a trip to England without me. Visiting the beer he so dearly loves.
All alone, I did not do well.
First a dead battery in my car. Valet parking jumped it so I could get home.
Then a burned out headlight ( $300)
Then a lady bumped my bumper in a parking lot and asked to be carried away in an ambulance. NO damage to my car at all, not even a dent! She still has not filed a claim, but has 2 years to do so. Her insurance said there was an attorney involved.
Then my car radiator cracked and had to be replaced. ($850) Good thing a girlfriend could come and get me. I hate being stranded. I felt so lonely when hubby was gone.
Hubby came home and I thought great, all is well now, someone to help out with life in general. How did I get so dependent on him?

Meanwhile, when I thought things were getting better, another crisis. Hubby was out riding his bike, and was hit by a truck. Aug. 29th.
Thank goodness he did not end up in the hospital or worse!

He injured his knee, (very swollen, the Dr. drained 90 cc of blood from his knee, and office record he said.) and has some bruises from when he fell. Dr.'s Xrays, Crutches. He gets to experience this all for the first time. He has never been seriously injured before. I am afraid this injury could have life changing effects. After all the problems I have with my knee, I don't want him to have to go thru that!

Still working on the other guys insurance. Hubby did not think it was bad at first, did not get the guys insurance, licenses, etc., had a friend drive him home with his broken bike, but the pain began a few hours later. We got an appointment the next day with the Dr. I did not want him to wait in an ER emergency room, so I fed him some pain pills and iced it for the afternoon and evening. Still have the ice machine from my surgery. Pumps cold water around your injury. Much better than ice bags.

MRI was yesterday. Sweet talked the girls into faxing over the results. No meniscus tears thank goodness. Seems to be fractures, which the Dr. said was the best case scenario for recovery. Hopefully no surgery, but don't know till we can get in to see him again next week.

Charging the bills on a credit card till the other guys insurance hopefully reimburses us. The guy who hit him said he calle din a claim so we are waiting for his insurance to call. I also put in a medical claim with my insurance, just in case the guy doesn't have any. We have a $5000 deductible on our health insurance.

I am glad August is over! Hopefully the end of the hot summer will mean the end of problems. Of course Hubby has a long recovery ahead of him. Going to have to cancel some travel plans we had made till he can put some weight on that leg again.

Happy September!

Today a new adventure begins.

Oh my Judy -- that is a record of some kind (one I"m sure you wished not to repeat!)
I do understand your feelings about 'being alone' for that time. I was single for almost 6 years b/f I married my dh......and I was quite the 'how do I get out of this mess' kind of person b/c 'stuff' can't breaking down, required fixing, what with between the house and my car. I'd never lived alone before that time in my life....it was quite a learning experience. But it's true it's NICE to have someone to share that 'stuff' with. (good and bad)
Glad dh knee injuries don't seem anymore serious.....as you know - NO fun! Take care of him and yourself and keep us posted!! Love the mountains on your page.....kind of on my bucket list -- to get back to snowcapped mountains for a visit -- sometime!

Hope you are doing better now too....
Hugs
Lynn
