I've had this bike 'available' to me for quite some time, but I was first too heavy, then too scared, then hurt my knee, and finally too busy...
But I made myself a promise that before the week ends, I'll get that thing all tuned up and ready and take it out on the road and test that theory that you never forget how to ride a bike.
Started out a bit wobbly, but it came right back to me.
Most of all, I'm really proud of myself for breaking out of another self-limitation.
I also found out that riding out on the road is much more tiring than using the stationary bikes at the gym (and a lot more fun!).
When I was at Dick's sporting goods store yesterday buying a bike pump, I decided to get some bike shorts while I was at it. I'm seriously running out of anything that isn't stupidly big on me now. I asked a sales person if they have a plus size department for women.
"No, I'm sorry, I'm afraid we don't. Are you shopping for yourself?"
"Why don't you have a look at some of the regular sized items? You might find something that works for you."
I was certainly not expecting THAT advice, and was even more surprised to find a nice pair of bike shorts that fit me and even... *gasp* flatter me!
Things are moving along. It all still seems unreal at times.
I used up all of Spark People's 10 pound trophies. Now they just go in 50 pound hops. Booo. Like 10 pounds stops being noteworthy! ever!
