I dislike mean-spirited people...a lot!

Saturday, September 01, 2012

Hey hey! So it's labor day weekend and Nathan and I wanted to kick it off on a good note. We grabbed some delicious sushi, had great conversation about our future kids and then met up with a girlfriend I know from work. When I got there, she was with 5 other women. Unfortunately I didn't get to chat with all of them but one of them stuck out like a sore thumb. She decided to befriend me so we chatted but as we talked I started to grow a little uneasy, which is NOT a common occurence for me. I usually am the type of person who gets along with EVERYONE and am known to be fairly outgoing and positive. The first thing she says to me is, "Look at that guy. He's so good looking, which you don't see often in San Antonio." I just kinda smiled and nodded, stating that I'm not from around here but I think my husband is pretty cute so I don't really worry about other men. She then proceeds to tell me about the "fat, ugly girl" he came in with and how he can do better. At this point, I'm in shock that a woman can say such awful things, especially to someone she just met. The girl he came in with was in the bathroom and when she finally came out, the mean girl I was sitting with basically flagged me down to make sure I saw what she looked like. The girl was beautiful! She had a great body, a pretty face and great style. I looked at the mean girl and said, "I think she's pretty!" Defending this poor woman that had no idea we were talking about her. The mean girl says, "You must have your beer goggles on!"

CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?! Why I even bothered to continue talking to her is beyond me. At one point, her ridiculousness irritated me so much that I almost slapped her in the face. Since my husband is in the military, she started to ask him what he does and then she started talking about herself and how she would love to be in the military but she would take such a huge paycut and she has too many nice things to do that. She said, "I HATE my job but I make over $100,000! I got my coach bag, a nice apartment, a brand new mustang, school loans...girl I got bills to pay and I can't give up money like that." I responded with, "Good for you. I make enough money to make me happy and I'm married to my best friend." Then she says, "Well I would give it all up for love. My goal in life is to be a trophy wife." Oh man...our conversation was making me dizzy. Needless to say, I didn't know that people like this existed but I feel bad for such ugly minded people. There's no need for it, at all. Nathan and I left, went home and went to bed...haha

On a positive note, I ran 40 mins today! Yup, yours truly ran 4 miles without stopping too! That's progress because at one point, I couldn't even run for 15 mins straight! I want to get some ST in this afternoon and Nathan wants to play raquetball so we're about to have a really active day! Hopefully everyone is having a fantastic weekend thus far and for anyone who reads this, thank you for listening to my rant. I try not to do it often but in this case, I couldn't help myself!

Yikes, I can't stand people like that! The problem with me is that I'm too transparent. People generally can tell pretty quickly if I'm not a fan!

You did good with keeping your cool!

UGH, I can't stand people like that either! I usually respond with something like, "How do you know she doesn't have an eating disorder?" or something like that. Just anything to draw attention to the fact that the other person is just as human as any of us and we wouldn't want others talking about us that way. I probably would not have been able to stay the whole time and thanked the man for dinner and told my partner I would wait in the car. Grrr!!!

On you positive note, though, CONGRATS!!! Sounds like you are definitely making progress!

It's a good thing I didn't meet that girl. I would probably speak my mind. Congratulations on the good run.

What a great blog post. I never can think of anything to say to someone at a party. I ususally just sit and watch people.

I have a mother-in-law that has a hang up on heavy people. Everytime I gain weight, she really rags on me.

I have made it a goal, to get away from someone like that immediately. It depresses me. Hope she doesn't ruin your day for long emoticon
