NYS Fair Eats -- Fried Kool-Aid!? Really??

Friday, August 31, 2012

I attended the NYS Fair last night and I thought that instead of eating all kinds of junk food, it would be really fun to take photos of as many fried and otherwise not very nutritious foods that I could find. (I saw someone else had done this so it wasn't an original idea.) Anyway, I was with other people who all got into the act and we actually had a fun time doing this and it didn't cost anything. Funny (and also sad) as these photos are to me, I didn't see anyone actually eating any of this stuff, except that my husband bought a chocolate covered piece of bacon and said it was very good.

That said, there are healthy options, we just didn't see a lot of signs for those. So, I don't want to disrespect the Fair. This was mostly an exercise to spend some fun time with some friends and keep me from actually eating all of these things myself. Here are a few of the photos:

Sounds like a fun way to keep from partaking and avoiding the inevitable guilt and/or nauseousness that would follow emoticon

Now try to add all the calories you missed out on by not eating these things. I gotta admit that I was tempted to eat a few of them but not enough to actually reach for the wallet.

There must be something wrong with me-nothing sounded good.

There was a show I watched on TV last year - all about fried foods. One on hand, it was disgusting - deep fried twinkies, ice cream etc. On the other hand, I love donuts ... Sigh

Well I never new so many things could be deep fried. Or someone made up chocolate covered bacon. I have yet to see a Funnel Cake (is that what they are called). I guess I live a sheltered life here in British Columbia. Who knew! emoticon
