I can see why people can get so confused about how many Calories that they should be eating a day to lose weight. It is important to know your BMR - Basal Metabolic Rate - this is the number of Calories you should consume a day just to keep your body functioning properly in an inactive state.
My BMR is currently 1572 Calories a Day

So I would class myself as Moderately Active - as I am going to the gym 5-6 times a week but not totally killing myself LOL!
So to maintain my weight I would have to consume 2436 Calories a day
But I want to lose weight - so at the moment the nutritional site SparkPeople I use to track my progress states that I should be between 1500-1850cal a day
This seems to be working at the moment with the exercise schedule that I am on - I have lost another kilo this week - so all that fluid retention has gone - back to where I was before the flu hit. - YEAH!! rightgethealthywoman.blo
