Another Spark Coach assignment

Thursday, August 30, 2012

So today, I have to blog about the ways I've been noticing changes and improvements in my healthier lifestyle besides just seeing numbers on a scale. And I have noticed some. Here's a partial list off the top of my head:

- Drinking water daily (usually at least three cups at a minimum)
- Healthier food choices (I've tended to turn down desserts more or try to selectively choose food options that are lower in calories or smaller portion sizes)
- Not craving dessert much (although I do make room for it for sure sometimes, overall I can't say I want even chocolate much anymore. It's becoming more the norm for me to not care about dessert--but if everyone else is having some, or it looks REALLY GOOD, I try to allow for it and not deprive myself :))
- More happiness (I'm usually in a neutral bland state or a mildly depressed one, but I've noticed I've had a more positive outlook on life from day to day; I'm not as easily stressed as I used to be, and I've started to think ahead more to the future in a good way)
- I plan my day out more (I used to think of my life as work, eat, relax, sleep--in whatever order or quantity it fell in--but now I'm in control of my day better. I am not only much more productive that way, but I tend enjoy my day more too, since I can see all that I have accomplished and still have time left over for myself--because I arranged it to be so)
- Fitness is slightly easier (I can't say I enjoy it, but it's become a little easier from when I first started. My breathing isn't as ragged, and it's not as painful as it first was)
- I have a more positive body image (until I was in college, I didn't care how I looked and really never gave myself much thought--but then lately, I came to believe the comments and discussions regarding my weight and started to feel 'fat' even though I was really only forty pounds overweight at most. Since SparkPeople I've lost twelve pounds and already have started to enjoy looking in the mirror or have begun creatively imagining what I would look like with a different hairstyle or with jewelry or makeup--I'm recreating myself in my mind instead of simply feeling upset with the way things were--I know I can change, and I'm starting to enjoy all the possibilities)
- I feel more toned (just noticed this one yesterday; that compared to before, my body is feeling more firm kind of all over--and I like that. Maybe it's the 5K practice???)
- Being successful in other areas of life too (In just over a month of SparkPeople, I've gotten my driver's license, applied for two jobs, paid off a college loan at least a month earlier than expected, etc. These are pretty major changes, and they help me to feel confident)

Well, that's it for now. But that's a long enough list for me to feel successful. :) I hope you are feeling the same way, my fellow SparkPeople!!

Cheers!
